I found that the septic tank was made of concrete with an outside length of 9 feet and width of 4 feet. The water depth in the tank was 58 inches. Based on these measurements I concluded that the tank ia a 1000 gal tank. Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 RE: Health Authority Approval Tract I Block 3 Campbell Point Subdivision Dear Sirs: Our firm conducted a Health Authority Approval for the above indicated lot on September 18, 1993. This test was a retest of a health approval conducted by our firm, on September 14, 1993, which did not pass. Due to the age of this system, no information is on file with the Department of Health & Human Services. During our discussion with the owner, Mr. Harvey Barnhill, he indicated that the system was in stalled prior to 1968, at approximately the same time as the system on Lot 1, Tract B, Barnhill Subdivision. Please see attached sketch for a description of the system. Our as-built, performed at the same time the Health Authority Approval was conducted, shows that the well is approximately 73 feet away from the septic tank. While this separation distance is less than the presently required 100 feet, the age of this system allows the well to be not less than 50 feet from the septic system. Our septic adequacy test applied water to the system at a rate of 6.5 GPM, the system accumulated 22 inches of water, which had completely drained by the end of the 24 hour test period. Our investigation was conducted on 10/13/93 by Mr. Bob Wright, a registered Civil Engineer with our office. The investigation consisted of boring a single 16.5 foot hole near the existing septic system. ACME 75 drill rig was utilized, using 7" diameter rite augers. Attached with this letter report is a log of the boring, and an updated as-built drawing (Figure 2) showing the location of the test boring in relationship to the existing septic system. The auger flites were continuously monitored over the full depth of the hole. Out findings are illustrated in the attached log (Figure 1). A 1' PVC monitoring tube was installed to monitor any groundwater which may exist, bio groundwater was detected while drilling. The soils appears to be a well graded sand with gravel. Estimated absorption rate by visual classification is between 85 and 125 square feet per bedroom.
