A permit (#SW990314) was issued in 1999 for a proposed septic system; but was never installed. Per the homeowners request, we are designing a septic system around Eagle River Engineering's Test Hole #2 We are proposing that a 1000 gallon septic tank and a bed type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs from Eagle River Engineering which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that an application rate of 0.50 gallons/day/ft2 should be used. 2. BED DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: 6.4 minutes/inch b. Proposed Application Rate: 0.50 gallons/day/ft2 c. Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519 Re: Lot 1, Block 2, Pioneer Estates Narrative & Permit Application Dear Mr. Cross: The proposed well and septic system will have very limited impact on adjacent properties for the following reasons: 1. The surrounding Tots are large parcels, allowing sufficient room for septic sites. 2. Immediate neighboring septic systems are all +30' distance most lots are undeveloped. 3. Reserve space is adequate, due to absorption capacity of the gravel soil in this area. 4. Drainage will not be affected and is not a major consideration in our design. This septic system will require a lift station to be located in the permeablersoilistrata located in the 2-4.5 foot zone. The soil below this level has a percolation rate greater than 60 minutes per inch. Water table is located well below the septic system bottom. The owner already has a new 1000 gallon septic tank onsite so we are designing based on a 500 gallon add on lift station. If you have any questions please call our office at 694-5195. The well and septic plan are for a single family residence only. 2. The drawing and or site plan shall be a part of this specification. 3. All materials and workmanship shall meet the Anchorage Department of Health and State Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. 4. All soil tests are advisory to the design and are to be verified or modified in the field by the engineer. 5. All excavations and depths are advisory and are to be verified in the field by the contractor to meet Municipality of Anchorage, Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. 6. It is the responsibility of the owner to obtain all necessary permits or easements and to locate any adjacent multi -family wells. 7. The excavation is to be exactly in the area shown on the site plan, any deviation requires engineer approval. C. SEPTIC TANK 1. Septic tank construction shall be a minimum of 1250 gallon steel two compartment tank with lift station or a 1000 gallon septic tank with added 500 gallon lift station approved by the Municipality of Anchorage. 2. Septic tank is to be installed level on compacted base material. 3. All connections are to be made with caulder couplings. C. BED 1. The bed is to follow the natural land contour to maintain uniform total depth of the bed bottom. 2. The bottom of the bed shall be level, plus or minus 1.5". 3. The total depth of the bed excavation is not to exceed 3.0', referencing the ground surface at the uphill side, at any point. 4. The pressure effluent line within the bed shall be laid level. • 5. The bed gravel isfo be covered with typar fabric material. 6. Soil or combination of soil and extruded board insulation to a depth of 3' or equivalent is to be placed over the leachfield. Mound soil if necessary. 7. The area over the bed is to be finish graded to prevent ponding of surface water runoff. 8. The septic tank and leachfield must not be closer than 100' to any existing private well, 150' to any Class "C" well, or 200 feet to any community well. The surrounding lots are large parcels, allowing sufficient room for septic sites. 2. Immediate neighboring septic systems are all +30' distance most lots are undeveloped. 3. Reserve space is adequate, due to absorption capacity of the gravel soil in this area. 4. Drainage will not be affected and is not a major consideration in our design. This septic system will require a lift station to be located in the permeablersailistrata located in the 2-4.5 foot zone. The soil below this level has a percolation rate greater than 60 minutes per inch. Water table is located well below the septic system bottom. The well and septic plan are for a single family residence only. 2. The drawing and or site plan shall be a part of this specification. 3. All materials and workmanship shall meet the Anchorage Department of Health and State Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. 4. All soil tests are advisory to the design and are to be verified or modified in the field by the engineer. 5. All excavations and depths are advisory and are to be verified in the field by the contractor to meet Municipality of Anchorage, Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. 6. It is the responsibility of the owner to obtain all necessary permits or easements and to locate any adjacent multi -family wells. 7. The excavation is to be exactly in the area shown on the site plan, any deviation requires engineer approval. C. SEPTIC TANK 1. Septic tank construction shall be a minimum of 1250 gallon steel two compartment tank with lift station or a 1000 gallon septic tank with added 500 gallon lift station approved by the Municipality of Anchorage. 2. Septic tank is to be installed level on compacted base material. 3. All connections are to be made with moulder couplings. C. BED 1. The bed is to follow the natural land contour to maintain uniform total depth of the bed bottom. 2. The bottom of the bed shall be level, plus or minus 1.5". 3. The total depth of the bed excavation is not to exceed 3.0', referencing the ground surface at the uphill side, at any point. 4. The pressure effluent line within the bed shall be laid level. 5.
