The current wastewater disposal trench is located on the portion that will be sold,so we are submitting this permit application for the construction of a new absorption trench. The attached site plan identifies the location of the home as well as the existing well, septic location and alternate site. No conflicts exist between this proposed system and any wells, whether on this lot or adjacent lots. The ground surface on the lot slopes very mildly,only around 2% Drainage arrows are shown on the site plan showing the grade and direction of flow. Stormwater drainage will not impact this septic system. The new trench will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible. Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. The new system will be a minimum of 50' from all wells and surface water, and more than 5' away from the septic tank. The alternate site is located more than 6' away. Please refer to the attached test hole logs, soils lab analysis, plan and profile pages for the septic design. If this design is followed, there will be no adverse impacts to adjacent properties. A new septic system was installed in September 2008 with an AdvanTex AX -20 advanced wastewater treatment system. The drainfield design was based upon a test hole evaluated by Dee High, P.E. in April 2001. Prior to installation of the new drainfield, a monitoring tube was installed downhill. The water was found at 7.75 ft below ground surface, and the new drainfield was redesigned with a maximum depth of 2.75 ft. Since the 2001 drainfield was installed with a maximum depth of 6 ft, another groundwater monitoring tube was installed on September 18, 2008 near that drainfield. On October 2, 2008, the water level was measured at 9.3 ft below ground surface. Thus, with a trench depth of 6 ft, the vertical separation to high groundwater is 3.3 ft. do not believe that the reduced separation to groundwater will result in harm to the environment, for the following reasons: 1) The effluent from the AdvanTex AX -20 is of higher quality than from a standard septic system, having undergone secondary treatment, 2) There are 2 drainfields available to dispose of the septic effluent, so the encroaching drainfield will not be used 100% of the time, 3) The 2001 drainfield was designed for a standard septic tank, so it is significantly oversized to dispose of treated effluent. The required absorption area for the AdvanTex AX -20 is 150 ft2, and the 2001 drainfield provides 517 ft2. An existing 2 bedroom house will be removed, and a new 4 bedroom house is proposed. The existing septic system was installed in 2001. The steel STEP tank will be abandoned in place, but the drainfield will be retained. An AdvanTex AX -20 advanced wastewater treatment system is proposed with a new drainfield. The proposed design is based upon a test hole dug on April 19, 2001 and evaluated by Dee High, P.E. The hole was dug to 14 ft, with a seep of water noted at 10 ft. Definitions. A. Alteration. B. Certificate of On -Site Systems Approval. An approval by the Municipality of existing water and wastewater disposal systems given at the time of property sale and title transfer in accordance with AMC 15.65. These approvals certify that the systems are adequate for the homes that they support and meet the codes that were in place at the time of system construction. C. Damage. Any man-made or natural change in a system that would inhibit the system from performing as designed. D. Maintenance and Repair. The scheduled and as needed replacement of existing parts, components and pieces of an AWWTS that were included in the original design which would allow the AWWTS to continue to perforin as designed. E. Permit (Construction) An On -Site Wastewater Disposal System Construction Permit as defined by AMC 15.65. F. Permit (Operating) An Advanced Wastewater Treatment System Operating Permit. An annual permit, issued by the Municipality, that allows the Owner to operate an AWWFS, upon meeting all the requirements of this agreement, the conditions of Operating Permit, the requirements of the On -Site Wastewater System Construction Permit and all relevant provisions of AMC 15.65 3. Fee. Owner shall pay to Municipality an annual fee of — -aa i0 — (S $f10), payable on or before the issuance of the operating permit and annually thereafter. The annual fee is due on or before the anniversary date of the approval by the Municipality of installed system. 4. Term. The term of this Memorandum of Understanding shall be for the life of the AWWTS. The term begins on the date of approval by the Municipality of the installed system and shall continue while the AW WTS system is in use or operational or until the property is sold or title is transferred by owner and a new certificate of On -Site approval is issued to the new owner or transferee of the property. 5. Alterations, installation and Removal of Additional Equipment. Owner agrees not to make any alterations, removal of parts or additions to the AW WTS without a Construction Permit from the Municipality. 6. Maintenance and Repairs. A. Throughout the term of this Memorandum of Understanding, the Owner shall maintain AW WTS in good repair. In addition, it shall be the responsibility of the Owner during the term of this Memorandum of Understanding, and any extensions or renewals thereo& at the owner's sole expense, to pay for any and all: (1) repair(s), (2) maintenance, (3) adjustment(s), (4) replacement costs, and (5) inspection costs. Further, Owner agrees to comply will all applicable ordinance, laws, regulations, rules and orders for the AW WTS. B. Owner agrees to provide the Municipality a written schedule of routine maintenance and repairs which have been performed on the system pursuant to the terms and conditions contained in the Owner's AWWTS Operating Permit. This schedule shall be submitted to the Municipality annually upon the renewal of the permit. The schedule of maintenance and repair contained in the Owner's AWWTS Operating Permit is: Q1, /u44X C. The failure of either party at any time to enforce a provision of this Memorandum of Understanding shall in no way constitute a waiver of the provisions, nor in any way effect the validity of the Memorandum of Understanding or any part hereof; or the right of such party thereafter to enforce each and every provision hereof. 8. Amendment. A. This Memorandum of Understanding shall only be amended, modified or changed by a writing, executed by authorized representatives of the parties, with the same formality of this Memorandum of Understanding was executed and such writing shall be attached to this Memorandum of Understanding as an amendment. B. Due to the time of year, I believe this seep to be seasonal. We monitored the water table starting April 20 through the month of May to the first week of June. The water table never rose above 12'. As such, we have provided our design based on the seep. This should give us about 6' of clearance from the actual high water table and approximately 4' from the seasonal seep. We will be installing this system near the end of this month. We will check the water table at the time of Installation. If we note any differences in elevation, we'll raise the system at that time.
