Septic System Design and Permit Application
I have reviewed your comments and revised the septic system design for the subject lot
accordingly. The lot is basically flat, but drainage arrows have been added to the
drawing showing 0% grade in all directions. In addition, the distance to the well on the
property west of this lot is shown as 120' from the property line. The lots on the north
and south of this lot are vacant and a note was placed on the Site Plan.
The distance from the property lines to the absorption trench and the septic tank have
been added to the drawing. Finally, the existing absorption system is currently located
under the property owners lush lawn. He is unwilling to destroy the lawn to demolish
the old cdb. We are therefore requesting the crib and absorption trench be abandoned
in their current locations. The crib, which falls outside the 100' protective well radius
could possibly be used in the future. The property owner has been notified of the
dangers of the possible collapse of the old cdb.
Please let me know if additional information is required before the construction permit
can be issued.

Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The existing septic system on Lot 7C, Siefker Subdivision has failed and must be
replaced immediately. We are therefore applying for a permit to construct a new septic
system on the lot to serve the three-bedroom home. The attached Site Plan and
backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the new septic system
and the parameters used in the design. Also identified on the plans are the location of
the existing well along with the existing septic system and te.s,t holes. The exis!ing
septic tank will be pumped, crushed and backfilled on site as it currently encroaches
into the 100' protective radius of the existing well. The existing absorption system will
be abandoned in place. Existing drainage patterns are shown and will not be altered by
the development of the lot.
Two test holes were placed near the location of the new absorption trench. These
ho es nd cate a silty sand in the upper 8' and clean sand to 18'_ Percola. tion. te. sts in
the silty sand were 30 minutes per inch and in the c ean sand ess than 1 m~nu[e per
inch. We have therefore used an average applica, tion rate of 1.0 to .de. sign. the new
absorption trench as 2' of the effective depth will be ~n the slower matena~ ana 4' in the
better soil. No groundwater was found during placement of the test holes and none
developed during the monitoring period. We are ther.e, fore proposing to place a deep
absorption trench with 6' of gravel beneath the distribution pipe. The total depth of the
trench will be approximately 12'. The distribution pipe will be placed at 6' below the
ground surface.
The ground surface on the lot slopes as shown on the attached Site Plan with shallow
grades from west to east that flatten in the area of the proposed absorption trenches.
The new absorption trench will be constructed on a fairly fiat surface as much as
possible in conformance with Mun cipal requirements and parallel to grouna contours
where possible.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:

patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained.
