One test hole was excavated on the property. The proposed septic system will be designed within the 30 foot radius ofthe test hole. We are proposing that a 1000 gallon septic tank and a deep trench type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the proposed design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that due to the overall appearance of the soils, an application rate of 0.8 gallons/day/fi2 should be used. 2. TRENCll DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: 9 minutes/inch b. C. d. Design Flow: 450 gallons per day 2 e. Minimum Absorption Area: 563 ft f. Total Depth: 12 feet (max.) g. In short, there are no slope concerns. 5. LOT LINE WAIVER: We would like to request that your department issue a property line waiver on the subject property for separation between the drainfield and the south property line at three (3) feet. This will place the trench approximatelly 17' from the septic system located on Lot 9, Block 1, Sand Lake S/D//2. There are no wells, septics, or water lines that have been encroached upon. We do not anticipate any adverse effects by this waiver. 6. WELL WAIVER: We have formally requested from ADEC a waiver to the class "C" well located on Lot 9, Bk 1, Sand Lake #2 Subdivision. We will provide you with a copy of the waiver approval as soon as it is issued by ADEC. It is understood that the sewer permit will not be issued until we provide you with documentation of the waiver approval. Subject: Waiver to Class C Well (PWSID 217314) from Proposed Sewer System for Lot 8, Block 1, Sand Lake/12 Dear Mr. Kleweno: We are proposing the installation of a new.individual sewer system for the above lot, which will serve a three bedroom single family dwelling. We are requesting that the separation distance of 200 feet be waived to I00 feet between the proposed system and the existing Class C well located on Lot 9, Block I, Sand Lake //2. A copy of our proposed design is enclosed. Justification for this waiver is as follows: ). We conducted a soil test on the subject proper/y October 16, 2000 (a copy of the test is included with the design) and found poorly graded sands from 3.5 to 21.5 feet. No water was found at the time of' the soil test; water monitoring on October 19 and 23 also showed no water. )- Water samples taken from the building on Lot 9, Block 1 (October 27, 2000) found no bacteria, and nitrate levels o£ 0.5 mg/L. )- We have verified through Municipal records that the total number of bedrooms for Lot 7, 9, and 10 is six; our proposed installation will add three bedrooms, for a total of nine bedrooms served by this well. Therefore our proposal should not change the status of this well. In addition, the original Certificate to Operate approved the addition of Lot 8 to this system. ~- Well logs of several surrounding wells show depths over 200 feet. Materials encountered during drilling are primarily sands mixed with some gravel and/or clay; confining layers of clay occur between 95 and 215 feet. Static levels range from 105 to 185 feet. )- The topography is such that there is little potential for surfacing effluent to flow towards the well. The lot is essentially fiat. ~- The other potential path of contamination would be leakage through the tank sidewalls or from water migrating subsurface from the drainfield. As noted above, the testhole showed no groundwater to a depth of 21.5 feet. March 09, 2001 10:45 AM Subject: RE: Other Bacteria in a Class C Well Hi Jeff. Keep re- enforcing that new name of mine, I keep forgetting. Ha! We look at ob as less than 200. The system gets a State violation, but not a federal violation. We invalidate the sample and ask them to take a repeat. If the bacteria continues to be above 200 ob, we will ask them to superchlorinate the well or take a step further to identify what the bacteria is. MOA sometimes requires a membrane filter test to see what a bacteria count is. We ask that PWS use the Presence/Absence method for murine sampling because the regulations only need to see if the coliform is there or not. Does that help?
