Permit No. SWO40255
We completed a test hole and percolation test on the subject lot yesterday. The
percolation rate was the same as that used in the original design for the revised system
(3 min./inch). We are revising the design of the upgrade to a 50' long x 5' wide x 4'
effective depth trench. The location will be the same as that shown on the site plan
previously submitted. Please revise the permit to allow the revised configuration of the
absorption trench. All documentation for the new test hole, percolation test and water
monitoring will be submitted with the certified as -built.

Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The owner of Lot 3, Block B, Zantha Vista Subdivision intends to upgrade his existing
septic system. The existing system, constructed in 1976 is still functioning adequately,
but the owner is concerned about future problems. We are therefore requesting a
permit be issued for the construction of a new septic system to serve the home. The
Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the
proposed and existing septic system. No conflicts between the new septic system and
other systems or wells in the area have been noted. Existing drainage arrows and the
current drainage pattern are also identified on the Site Plan. The drainage pattern will
be maintained after development of the new system is complete.
A Test hole placed near the location of the absorption trench in 1976 indicated sandy
silt and silty sandy gravel. The accepting soils were tested and found to have a
percolation rate of less than 5 minutes per inch. No groundwater was found during
excavation and none was noted during the monitoring period. We will place a new test
hole during the construction of the new absorption trench to verify soil conditions and
the lack of bedrock and groundwater. Our design includes the placement of a new
1,250 -gallon septic tank along with a new 32' long by 3' wide by 8' effective depth
absorption trench to collect and treat the sewage generated in the house. The bottom
of the trench will be 13' below the surface. The distribution pipe will be 5' below the
surface. A flow diverter valve will be installed and the existing absorption trench tied in
to the new system for possible future use. A minimum of 3' of cover will be placed atop
the trenches and a minimum of 4' of cover will be placed atop the new septic tank.
The ground surface on the lot slopes at grades from 2% to 5% from east to west in the
Lot 3, Block B, Zantha Vista Subdivision

area of the absorption trench. The new absorption trench will be constructed parallel
with the slope of the ground surface as much as possible in conformance with
Municipal requirements. The new septic system will be constructed 100' from all wells
and surface water. It will also be constructed a minimum of 10' from any water service
in the area.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:
1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells
in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing
septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve
space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.
4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage
patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained.
Sincerely,
rY W1011 i

RE: Test Hole and Soil Log Report for Sanitary System
Lot 3 Block B Zawtha Vista Subdivision
Dear Mr. Luchsinger:
We are submitting herewith the boring logs, percolation results and our
comments regarding soil conditions encountered at the subject site. This
investigation was performed in accordance with your request of May 17,
1976, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated July 15, 1976, by
Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Municipality of Anchorage, Department of
Environmental Quality.
A single test hole was put down within the Lot 3 area for the purpose
of defining gneeral subsurface soil condition and conduction percolation
tests for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with
a tractor mounted auger type drilling rig and the test hole was extended
to a total depth of 19 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared
for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-01.
Ground water was not encountered in the test hole.
We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service to you. Should
you have any question with reqard to the above, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
