The present well for this lot was drilled by M & W Drilling on March 27, 1975. The well distance to the septic tank was 110 feet. However, when the lot was surveyed on June 1. 1990, the well was found to be in the utility easement. Although non -objection to the encroachment could be obtained, the lending institution refused to allow the well to remain in the easement. In September 16, 1982, the owner of Lot 3A3 installed a septic system. The well for this lot was not drilled until December 8, 1982. The trench was over 100 feet from the well. 77 Alt& 1116 60 7�j�o -PROBLEM The As -Built surveys for the two lots, 3A2 and 3A3 were compared. See attached composite drawing. The comparison showed that the 100 foot septic tank radius just included the existing well. The 100 foot distance from the trench on Lot 3A3 coupled with the 100 foot radius from the crib on Lot 3A2 and the utility easement only allows a small 15 foot long east -west and 6 foot high triangle in which the well can be drilled. In order to drill a new well a waiver would be necessary for the well to the septic tanks on Lot 3A2 and 3A3. SOLUTION The septic tank on Lot 3A3 is a steel Greer tank. Since it is only 8 years old, the integrity is probably good. The soils are well drained gravels. Corrosion would not be expected in these soils. An 88 foot distance from the septic tank to the new well is planned. The septic tank for Lot 3A2 Is a concrete tank built by Espenoza in 1974. At that time the Espenoza tanks were being substantially built. The distance to the well from this tank Is 80 feet. The well log for Lot 3A2 indicates nine silty gravel or hardpan layers. There is a 20 foot thick clay seam between 210 and 230 feet. The static water level for Lot 3A2 is 250 feet. All wells in the area have similar depths and similar static water levels. See Page 2 of 4. As the tank on Lot 3A2 is closest to the well it is used as the tank for calculations. Using the Darcy Equation, the time for sewage to travel vertically from the septic tank to the well would be 790 years. Using the same equation for horizontal flow at the first hardpan layer, the flow would take 25 years. Using the ADEC calculations, the points scored 13.2 points. See Pages 1-3. There is 1.5 mg/1 nitrates in the well. No bacteria were detected. The well logs, water analyses sheets and calculation sheets are attached. There is no reason to believe that allowing the well to be drilled at 80 and 88 feet from the septic tanks will jeopardize public health or pollute the groundwater. The time log for water to reach the wells is far longer than the bacteria can survive. See table attached. Please issue the permit to drill the well on Lot 3A2 with distances to the septic tanks on Lots 3A2 and 3A3 to be not less than 80 feet and 88 feet respectively. The existing Seepage Pit and Trench be abandoned and a new absorption field be built outside the 150 ft. Class "C" well barrier. Note, a waiver will still be required for the septic tank. 2.
