Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The owner of Lot 2, Block 4, Sunny Subdivision intends to expand his three-bedroom
home to include two additional bedrooms. We are therefore requesting a permit be
issued for the construction of a new septic system to serve the five -bedroom home.
The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and
configuration of the new septic system and the parameters used in the design. Also
identified on the plans are the location of the well on the lot and surrounding wells in the
area, test holes, surface water and the septic systems on the surrounding lots.
Drainage arrows are shown indicating the current drainage patterns. The drainage
patterns will be maintained after construction.
The test holes placed near the location of the proposed absorption trench indicated silty
gravel with some sand and percolation rates approximating 31 to 60 minutes per inch.
No groundwater was found during placement of the test holes, and none was noted
during the monitoring period. We are therefore Proposing to place a new 1,500 -gallon
septic tank and a 84' long x 3' wide x 10' effective depth absorption trench. The

The ground surface on the lot slopes at varying grades from northeast to southwest.
The absorption trench will be constructed parallel with the slope as much as possible in
conformance with Municipal requirements. All components of the new septic system
will be constructed a minimum of 100' from the existing well on this lot and 100' from
wells on surrounding lots.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:

Gentlemen:
We are submitting herewith the test boring results and our comments
regarding soil conditions encountered at the subject site. This
investigation was performed in accordance with your request of
September 19, 1975 and those procedures outlined in a letter dated
July 15, 1975, by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area
Borough Department of Environmental Quality.
A single test hole was put down within Section 24 for the purpose
of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed
sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor -mounted
backhoe and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 17.0 feet
below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has
been included in Drawing A-01.
Ground water was not encountered in the test hole.
