We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the construction of a new 1,250 gallon septic tank to serve the home. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration where the new septic tank will be placed. Also identified on the plans are the locations of the water service line on the lot and the existing absorption trench. Drainage arrows are also shown and current drainage patterns will be maintained after construction. No conflicts exist between the location of the new septic tank and other septic systems in the area. The existing septic tank will be pumped and removed from the site. It will be disposed in accordance with ADEC requirements. The ground surface on the lot slopes as shown on the ..a, ttached Site Plan with fairly shallow slopes from east to west. The new septic tank wIll be constructed at the same location as the old tank in conformance with Municipal requirements and parallel to ground contours where possible. All components of the new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 10' from the water service line on the lot and 100' from all wells in the area, The system will also be constructed a minimum of 100' from any surface water in the area. Soils encountered in testholes shown on the site plan revealed coarse well graded gravels which percolate at a rate faster than one minute per inch. A two foot deep sand filter will therefore be required below the drainfield rock. We are proposing to place a 5' wide absorption trench with a 4' depth of gravel beneath the distribution pipe. The length of the trench will be 65'. The topography of the lot slopes from the east to the west at a grade of between 3% and 5%. Further to the west the ground drops dramatically in excess of 30% to the railroad tracks. The lot is bisected by a 100' railroad easement. The subdivision is currently served by a community water system and reserve setbacks are not a problem. None of the systems on adjacent lots are currently in place.
