SUBJECT: Lot 13, Block 6, Keno Hills Subdivision No. 6 Well and Septic System As-Built Attached is the certified as-built for the septic system recently completed on the subject lot. The first inspection for the system was completed on July 25, 2001. At that time it was unknown to the installer that the permit had expired. All work was stopped until the new permit was issued on September 24, 2001. Additional inspections were then held on September 25, 2001. The final electrical sign off was just recently issued on September 9, 2002. The septic system is now complete and the as-built has been finalized. During construction soils found at the bottom of the bed were consistent with those found in the test holes and consisted of well-graded sand with some silty gravel. The total depth of the system minus the sand filter is 2' below the surface allowing more than 5' of separation from ground water and 7' from bedrock. Please let me know if you have further questions. We are therefore requesting a'permit be issued to construct a new well and sepbc system to serve the proposed home. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation show the'location and configuration of the new septic system and well. It also shows the 100' protective radius for the well and the alternate site for the absorption bed. The lot contains approximately 2.5 Acres of surface area and the well radius is contained entirely on the lot. In addition, the septic system is easily more than 100' from other well radii in the area. Several test holes have been placed on the lot to' find an acceptable location for the new absorption bed and reserve site. All holes revealed silty gravel and well graded sands which percolated at less tha.n, 1 per inch. Groundwater was noted dudng the excavation of the holes at between 7 and 9' below the surface and bedrock was found at 9'. The water level was monitored at 7' below the surface on May 2, 2000. We have therefore designed a bottomless sand filter system. 'The laterals will be placed at 1.5' below the ground surface and the total depth of the bed'will be 2.0'. A total of 5' separation from groundwater will be maintained and 7' from bedrock. The lot slopes at varying grades from east to west and south to north. The new absorption bed will be placed in a fairly fiat area near the front of the lot.. The lot is of sufficient size that no conflicts will exist between either the well or septic system on the lot and all other systems in the area. If the System is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: 1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 'L~)t 13, Block 6, Keno Hills Subdivision No. 6 ,May 15, 2000 Page Two The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserved space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. The'system, if constructed as designed, will have no ad~;erse impact on drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained. Work also includes the construction of a new 30' long x 12' Bottomless Intermittent Sand Filter at the location shown on the attached Site Plan. All existing organic matedal must be excavated to the silty gravel layer below which is expected to be at least 2' below the original ground surface. A minimum of 2' of coarse sand meeting the attached specification must then be imported, and placed in the filter area. The filter must then be constructed atop the imported material in conformance with specifications furnished by the supplier. A minimum of 2" of direct bury insu. lation must be place.d atop the filter and 2' of natural backfill atop the Insulation. In lieu of insulation 3' of cover may be placed atop geotextile fabdc over the new filter. Construction shall be in accordance with the approved site plan, design drawings, Municipal Permit with any spec!al provisions or conditions, and all applicable State and Municipal Wastewater Disposal Regulations. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all underground utility locates and for the layout of the septic system and verification of the location of all lot lines. Unless specifically agreed otherwise, the contractor shall be responsible for final grading areas subsequently depressed from soil settling.
