SHAFER CIVIL ENGINEER 694-2979 KEFERENCE: Lot 14;~Calkins Subdivision Request a waiver to the horizontal separation of the well and the septic tank located on this property to 81 feet. The existing well and septic tank located on this property was installed under Municipality of Anchorage permit dated September,.'1975. The well was drilled in January, 1976 and the septic system was installed in February, 1976. ~he installation of the sgptic system was inspected by a representative of the greater Anchorage Area Borough. The horizontal distance of 81 feet was established and accepted by the Borough at that time. The well log indicates a static water level of 304 feet with the bottem of the well at 346 feet. At the time of this inspection the static water level was measured at 309 feet. The source of water in this well is protected from surface by many layers of sand and clay. A colifoz,, bacteria analysis of the water at this time was satisfactory.. This system has been in use for over 8 years without an~ indication of contamination. We contend that there is adequate evidence to show that the horizontal separation, required by 18-AAC-72.021 are not necessary to prevent contamination of this ~ell.
