WELL IMPACT The owner has based his development plans on an "approved" Septic System Design Site Plan which was prepared for the previous owner (as part of the sale agreement) by Kniefel Engineering in 1990 (attached). That proposed well location has been moved as far to the west as possible to lessen the impact on the area available fo sopt'c systems on Lot 6 Block 7. Our site plan provides for a la .f. reserve area for the future development of two septic systems on this lot. Septic Systems in the area generally use less than 1500 s.f. per system. The impact of the proposed well on Lot 3 Block 1 Woodbourne Subdivision to the south is very minimal due to the Klatt Road R/W and the size of the lot. SEPTIC SYSTEM IMPACT The septic system should have very little or no impact on the ground water due to the 5'separation of which 2' is a filtering silty sand (receiving strata) and 3' of slow perc glacial till. RESERVE SPACE There is adequate space for an alternate system on this lot as shown in our design. Due to the fact that these lots are just over 0.5 acre in size, we would recommend that a plan be considered to bring in either a community or public water and/or wastewater system(s). DRAINAGE yes. /0 The septic system design location is &0-' up slope from an 8' cutbank above the ditch along side Browder Street. The receiving strata appears to be deepening down slope (to the west) combined with the filtering capability of the sand and the percolating capability of the underlaying glacial till, we do not anticipate any detrimental impact on the surface drainage. Northern Lights Blvd. Anchorage, Alaska 99503 Subject: Soils investigation for sanitary sewer system on: Lot 5, Block 7, Trails End Subdivision, Anchorage, Alaska. Dear Mr. Swain: At your request of October 11, 1978, I conducted a soils investigation at the proposed location of a sanitary sewer system on the subject lot. This investigation, which was accomplished on October 12, 1978, consisted of the inspec- tion of soils removed during drilling of a 6 inch diameter, 19.0 feet deep test hole, using solid flight augers, powered by a Nodwell mounted CME 45 drill rig. After completion of drilling, the test hole was filled with water and a percolation test performed. The results of this test are tabulated on an accompanying sheet. The soils encountered are graphically shown on the accompanying test hole boring log. The soils consisted of a layer of Organics, Peat and some Organic Silt 1 foot thick, overlying a Silt with some Sand and a trace to some Gravel 2 feet thick, in turn over- lying a Silty Gravel with some Sand 8 feet thick, underlain by a Silt with some Sand and Gravel to a total depth of 19.0 feet. The topography of the lot consists of a gentle slope in a westerly direction of approx- imately 5 per cent. Vegetation present on the subject lot consists of scattered stands of spruce, with occasional lone spruce trees, to 40 feet tall, including an occasional birch to 25 feet tall, scattered groups of alders and willows to 8 feet tall, and grasses to 3 feet tall, and common mosses. A water table was discovered in the test hole upon returning to the test hole to per- colation test one hour and forty minutes after completion of drilling. The test hole had caved at 9.5 feet and approximately one half inch of water was observed. There was no strong evidence of the existence of a water table during drilling. The only evidence was a slight increase in the soil moisture content at approximately 8 to 9 feet. This small amount of water may be inconsequential and have little effect on the operation of a sanitary sewer system. An accompanying sketch shows the subject lot with the approximate location of the test hole in relation to the property lines. I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.
