Two test holes were excavated in the area for the proposed septic system. We are proposing that a 1250 gallon septic tank and a deep trench type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the proposed design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography site plan, the average topography of this property is a 5 to 15 percent running from approximately north to south; in short, there are no slope concerns. The trenches are to be installed parallel to slope contours. I am unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. Adequacy tests on this property were performed on two different dates. Both the well and septic were tested on September 8, 201 land the septic only on September 26, 2011. The septic system has a 1,000 gallon tank that empties into two trenches. Trench #1 is 37 feet in length and trench #2 is 36 feet in length, a total of 73 feet. The trenches are serviced by a flow splitter valve. The bottoms of the trenches are at the same elevation. The flow favors going into trench #1, which is to the north. Each trench was installed with two cleanouts and twomonitor tubes. At the beginning of the septic system adequacy test on September 8th, the two monitor tubes were both at 49" in trench #1 and 9" and 0" in trench #2. After 622 gallons was introduced into the leach field, the readings were 60-5/8" and 62" in trench #1 and 14-1/2" and 13" in trench #2. After 1405 minutes elapsed, the readings were 49-1/4" and 50-1/4" in trench #1 and 11" and 15-1/8" in trench #2. Even though there was still over 5' available in trench #2, On-Site Services requested that trench #2 be re-tested with at least 300 gallons. This was done on the 26th of September. At the beginning of the test, trench #2 had levels of 7-1/2" and 0'. After 630 gallons of water was put directly into a clean-out in trench #2, the levels were 25-7~8" and 25-5~8". After 98 minutes elapsed, the readings were 20-1/8" and 19-3/4". The leach field is capable of absorbing greater than 600 gallons per day. On the first test, the well produced 3.3 GPM over a four hour period; however, on the second test, the well produced 3.5 GPM over a three-hour period, which is a better indicator of what the well can do.
