Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 Ref: Proposed Well and Septic System for Lot 48; T12N, R3W, Section 15, To whom it may concern: The proposed 3 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. The proposed well is to be drilled in the location shown on the site plan and design drawing. Two test holes were excavated in the area of the proposed septic system. The septic system will be designed around the 30 foot radius of these test holes. We are proposing that a 1250 gallon septic tank and also a deep trench type drainfield be installed. The homeowners requested a 4 bedroom septic system. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that due to the overall appearance of the soils, an application rate of 0.6 gallons/day/ft2 should be used. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: 20 & 6.67 minutes/inch b. Allowable Application Rate: 0.6 gallons/day/ft2 c. Number of Bedrooms: 3, but designed for 4 d. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day e. Minimum Absorption Area: 1000 ft2 f. Total Depth: 11 feet (max.) g. Effective Depth: 7 feet h. Width: 2.5 feet i. Reduction Factor: N/A j. Minimum Length: 72 feet total length (2 @ 36 feet long each) k. Effective absorption area = 1008 ft2 3. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached plot plan with topography information, the average topography in the area for the proposed septic system is a 10 to 15 percent running from approximately south/southeast to north/northwest. In short, there are no slope concerns. The trenches are to be installed parallel to slope contours.
