Ref: Proposed Septic System for Lot 6, Sandhill Subdivision
To whom it may concern:
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. A test hole
was excavated in the area of the proposed septic system. The septic system will be designed
around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. We are proposing that a new 1250 gallon septic tank
and also a deep trench type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the design are
summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring,
and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that due to the overall appearance of the soils, an
application rate of 0.6 gallons/day/ft2 should be used.
2. TRENCH DESIGN:
a. Percolation Rate: 20 minutes/inch
b. Allowable Application Rate: 0.6 gallons/day/ft2
c. Number of Bedrooms: 4
d. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day
e. Minimum Absorption Area: 1000 ft2
f Total Depth: 10 feet (max.)
g. Effective Depth: 7 feet
h. Width: 2.5 feet
i. Reduction Factor: N/A
j. Minimum Length: 72 feet
k. Effective absorption area = 1008 ft2
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed
upgrade.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography site plan, the average

topography of this property is a 15% to 20% percent running from approximately north to south,
in short, there are no slope concerns. The trenches are to be installed parallel to slope contours.

The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. Two test
holes were excavated on the property. A proposed septic system will be designed around the 30
foot radii of these test holes. The property owner would like to drill the well as soon as possible.
Attached is a site plan showing the proposed well location and the test holes locations. Also
attached are the two soil logs which shows that the property is capable of supporting an on-site
septic system.
I am unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic

During a recent COSA on-site inspection and test of the potable water
supply well on Lot 6 of Sandhill subdivision, the well's productivity was
determined to be .42 gallons per minute. The minimum well productivity
required by this Department (AMC 15.55) for a 4 -bedroom residence is .42
gallons per minute. Although the subject well currently meets this minimum
requirement, all parties concerned are advised that the production capacity of
the well may fluctuate. Restriction of non-critical water uses such as
washing cars and watering lawns and gardens may be required.
This advisory must be attached to all copies of the subject Certificate of On -
