Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 Subject: Upgrade Sewer Pemtlt - Eagle River Valley Ranchettes, Lot 32C Gentlemen: At the request of the owners, on October 14, 1998, we excavated one testhole for the subject property to upgrade the existing system which was identified as in failure by the owner. In addition, we noted that the septic tank had collapsed. We installed a monitoring tube with our testhole. The results of this test and water monitoring are attached. We propose to install a 2' wide deep trench while retaining the existing field for use in the future. The testhole registered no water during excavation or upon monitoring. Our proposed system is designed with a minimum separation from the house and property line. Additional fill will be provided over the system as required. This lot is relatively flat and slopes to the northeast away from the existing field and the house at approximately 2-5%. All the lots are served by community water which is serviced from the rear of the lots. There are no public or private wells within 100' of our proposed system location except as noted. There is neither surface water within 100' nor any known curtain drains within 50'. We do not expect that there will be any adverse effect on adjacent lots by the development of this system. The septic tank was pumped and ve__r_rified to have a capacity of 1250 gallons. The seepage pit was charged with 700 gallons of w~at~r and after a period of 24 hours approximately 406 gallons had percolated out of the'crib. It can be concluded from this test that the septic tank is adequate for your four bedroom residence, however, I regret to inform you that the seepage pit appears to only be adequate for approximately two bedrooms. It will be necessary for you to have the absorption area upgraded for an additional two bedrooms before it can be considered adequate.
