the 30 foot radius of a percolation test has been approved. Test holes from this lot and
surrounding lots show consistent soils down to 17 feet with no groundwater observed.
This waiver approval applies to the existing drainfield and proposed alternate drainfield only.
Any future upgrade to the on-site wastewater disposal system will require all code requirements
be met or another approval from this department.

Waiver for applying new code to perk test results
Dear On-Site Services Engineer:
Part of the conditions for the permit to build a septic system on the above lot was to perform an
additional perk test to confirm the soil suitability. The two existing test holes on the lot were
covered by the building foundation, and the septic trench was greater than 30' away.
Although this was brought to the attention of the contractor and our inspector, it was overlooked
in the construction. We apologize for this oversight.
We are asking for a waiver to use the provisions in the new code that allow for the consideration
of the various test holes in the subdivision. In this case, there were 14 holes that were dug and
perked on the 7 properties in this area. They were very uniform, all of them with silty sands down
to 18', no groundwater, and perking between 1-5 min/in. We are confident that another perk test
would reveal the same results.
