ENGINEER'S REPORT FOR ON-SITE WATER SUPPLY
AND WASTEWATER DISPOSAL SYSTEMS FOR TRACT
D, STUCKkGAIN HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION
I. Project Description
This portion of the project consists of building a structure that
will contain a barn and a garage with no plumbing, and caretaker's
quarters with three bedrooms of living space.
II. Water Supply
A. The living space in this building contains 3 bedrooms x 2 persons
per bedroom for an anticipated number of users of 6 persons.
Water supply is proposed to be supplied from the existing system
serving the structure on Tract E-2 , Stuckagain Heights Subdivision.
The total project will serve over 25 residents . The system will
be a Class A system.
B. Yield and Storage Requirements
This structure will require a daily supply of 3 bedrooms x
150 gpd = 450 gpd. The size of storage will be addressed in
the design of the overall water supply system.
C. Well Protection
The protective radius for the well (s) is 200' from any septic
tank or disposal field. Cast iron pipe with approved joints can
be installed from 100' to 200' of the well (s) .
D. Water Quality
The water will be sampled prior to use and tested to assure that
bacteriological and inorganic contaminant standards are met.

A. Design Flow
This three-bedroom structure will have a design flow of
450 gpd.
B. Septic Tank
/The volume of a septic tank to serve three bedrooms is
1, 000 gallons.

C. Absorption Trench
The soil test rating_ for this system is '85 s. f. per bedroom.
- Total sidewall area required = 85 x 3 = 255 square feet.

----Top of gravel = 4 feet below grade. Bottom of gravel = 10
•
feet below grade. Total trench length = 255 = 22 feet.

We have reviewed the plans and specifications for the subject project.
The project is hereby approved for construction for the items with which
this Pepartnent is concerned. This letter constitutes the permit required
by A.S. 46.03.720(a) for approval of sewerage systems.
Enclosed with this letter is a "Certificate to Construct" for the drinking
water systen. The "Approval to Operate" section of the certificate must
be completed by a representative of this Pepartr ent prior to placing the
systen in operation.
It should be remembered that final approval will necessitate the submission
of Engineer As-built Plans. This will consequently mandate that a pro-
fessional engineer conduct basic inspection of this project so as to
be able to sign off on as-built plans. Arrangement for this inspection
work is the responsibility of the developer.

Formerly Stuckagain Hts. ; now Lots 1 & 2 , Near Point Subdivision
Gentlemen:
Since the subject approval was given in February, 1985, the property has
been replatted and is now Near Point Subdivision.
The engineer's report that the approval was granted for included: 1) en-
largement of an existing structure (TRE-2) , 2) construction of an office
building (TRE-2) , 3) construction of a stable with caretaker' s quarters
(TR. D) , all of whose water was to be supplied by the extension of the
exist' __ a
At this time, the portion of the project described in (3) above has been
completed. This structure was constructed on Lot 2, Near Point Subdivi-
sion. Work continues on the remainder of the project.
Attached are 1) a property survey showing the improvements located on
Lot 2 Near Point Subdivision, 2) an as-built of the septic for Lot 2,
3) schematic as-builts of the water system, 4) copies of various water
tests.
At this time we are requesting interim approval of the systems serving
Lot 2 Near Point Subdivision. Please advise if any other information is
required for final approval.

still be submitted when work is complete. Water Rights should
be applied for through the Department of Natural Resources if

On June 25, 1986 approval to operate the systems located on Lot 2
was granted. At that time the work on Lot 1 was not complete.
The contractor that was installing the septic system on Lot 1 re-
quested several inspections during 1986 and 1987. Each time we
inspected the work, it was of acceptable quality but progress was
painfully slow. We understand that this contractor abandoned the
project.
The owner hired another contractor to finish the project. In 1989
we made several more inspections and the septic system is finally
complete.
We are submitting as-builts for the septic system for the main
building at this time, and request approval to operate.
Please do not hesitate to call us if any further information is
needed.

The following information is submitted in answer to your 11-27-89
letter. The structures are addressed in the same order as they
were in the engineers' report.
1. The main building (Lot 1) ultimately will have 12 bedrooms
and 6 kitchens, as described in the engineering report. The
wastewater system (recent approval request) is for the struc-
ture with ultimate development.
The proposed Tower's 2 bedrooms and two kitchens are included
in the aforementioned 12 bedrooms and 6 kitchens.

18, 1989 concerning information required before final operational
approval con be granted for the water and sewer systems which
service the subject property. Our records indicate the community
well is a Class A well as defined by 18 AAC 80.900. (a) (5) of the
State Drinking Water Regulations. Therefore, the appropriate raw
water analyses as required under 18 ACC 80. 100 (c) (1) must be
submitted to this office.

information provided. The water system is therefore classified as
a "Class A" system. Although, due to the current low occupancy,
for sampling purposes, the water system will be classified as a
"Class C" water system.
Any future expansion of this project will require additional
approval from this office.
