The attached site plan identifies the location of the home as well as the proposed well, septic location and alternate site. The ground surface on the lot slopes moderately toward the road at slopes between 15-30%, with some short areas that are greater than 40-50%. However, it is in the flatter area below the house that the new septic system is located. There are no slopes greater than 25% within 50 feet downslope of either the primary or alternate site. Contours are shown on the site plan showing the grade and direction of flow. Stormwater drainage will not impact this septic system. The new trench will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible. Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. No conflicts exist between this proposed system and any other well or septic system, whether on this lot or adjacent lots. The new system will be a minimum of 100’ from all wells and surface water, and more than 5’ away from the septic tank. The alternate site is located more than 6’ away. We are proposing that a new 1250 gallon septic tank and a 5-wide trench type drainfield be installed on the property. Two test holes were excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radii of these test holes. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters that were visible within 100 feet of the proposed septic system. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing, the average topography below the drainfield area is a 15 to 25 percent slope running approximately north to south. There is a cutbank 50+ feet below the proposed drainfield and alternate site, which the contractor will maintain a 50 foot separation to for both the primary and alternate sites. In short, there are no slope concerns. We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.
