A second absorption system was recently placed on the subject lot. Insufficient survey control
was apparently used in the location of the absorption trench as the east end was constructed in 7'
from the east property line. The trench does not impact the property to the east as it is a large 10
acre parcel. The absorption trench is much more than 100' from the well on the lot and a
significant distance greater than 16' from the septic system. We request a waiver be issued
allowing the trench to remain 7' from the east property line.

Adjacent Subsurface Soil Investigation
Dear On -Site Services Engineer:
The owner of the subject lot has installed a new septic system under permit OSP171207. A
requirement of the permit was to perform an additional perk test in order to document the
consistency of the subsurface soils over the entire area of the trench and alternate site. This
became difficult during construction because the area near the trench that was not wooded
became covered with stockpiled soil to be used as backfill for the trench.
In accordance with the exception listed in 15.65.210.0 of the recently -released code, we would
like to present the results of our investigation into the soils on surrounding lots to show that the
entire area is undermined by soils with consistent absorptive characteristics. The test hole on this
lot had a tested perk rate of 24 min/in. We then researched test hole results for every property
nearby, and the following table was developed. Our research verified that all documented rates
were under the percolation rate encountered on Lot IA with one exception which was slightly
higher at 30 min/in.

Special Provisions: The test hole shall be deepened to 18 feet at time of construction to demonstrate 6 feet of
separation to any impermeable barrier. Also, an additional percolation test shall be completed at time of
construction so that at least 90% of both the proposed primary and alternate trenches are within a 30 foot radius
of a percolation test.

Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The owner of the subject lot intends to construct a one bedroom ADU on the property.
A three bedroom home is currently in place on the lot. We are therefore requesting a
permit be issued for the upgrade of the septic system to accommodate the four-
bedroom complex on the lot. An existing septic system is in place on the lot, but the
configuration and exact location is unknown. The attached Site Plan and backup
documentation identify the location of the existing well and proposed septic system.
The existing septic system will be decommissioned in accordance with Municipal Code.
No conflicts exist between the proposed septic system and the wells on this or adjacent
lots. Drainage arrows are shown indicating the current drainage patterns. The ground
surface in the area of the proposed trench is virtually flat. The drainage patterns will be
maintained after construction.
The test hole recently placed on the lot indicated Sandy Gravel with some Silt (GM) in
the absorption zone of the proposed trench. The percolation rate was determined to be
24 minutes per inch. No groundwater was encountered during the placement of the
test hole and none was noted during the monitoring period. We have designed the new
absorption system with an application rate of .6 gallons per day per square foot. We
are proposing to place a new 1 ,250 gallon septic tank along with a 72' long trench by 3'
wide absorption trench with a 7' effective depth. The total depth of the system will be
12' with the distribution line at 5' below the surface. The test hole will be deepened to
18' prior to construction to verify the lack of bedrock or impermeable material in the
area.

The ground surface on the lot in the area of the new trench flows slightly to the
southwest and perpendicular to the proposed trench. The trench will be constructed in
accordance with Municipal Code. A minimum of 100' will be maintained between all
components of the septic system and the proposed well and from any surface water in
the area.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:
1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells
in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing
septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve
space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.
4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage
patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained.
