We are submitting this permit application for the construction of a new well and septic system. The attached site plan identifies the location of the home and the proposed well, septic location and alternate site. No conflicts exist between this proposed system and any other well or septic system on this lot or adjacent lots. The ground surface on the lot has slopes greater than 25% within 50' of the absorption trench. The trench has been designed to comply with the steep slope provisions of the ordinance. A waiver is requested to the slopes greater than 46%. Diagrams are attached which illustrate the proximity to the slope and the mitigation required to insure the 25% slope from 2.5' above the distribution line does not daylight less than 35' from the end of the trench. Ground contours are shown on the site plan indicating the grade and direction of flow. Storm water drainage will not impact this septic system. The test hole placed in the area of the new absorption trench revealed ground water at 17' after monitoring. We adjusted the level 2' to 15' to comply with the requirements of the ordinance. The total depth of the trench is 10.5' which is 4.5' above the theoretical groundwater elevation. The percolation test completed at 3' in the test hole revealed sandy soils which absorbed water at less than 1 minute per inch. At 9' the soil absorbed water at 30 minutes per inch. We have utilized an application rate of .8 gallons per day per square feet to compensate for the difference in percolation rates. Please refer to the attached test hole logs and plan and profile sheets for the septic design. If this design is followed, there will be no adverse impacts to adjacent properties.
