Subject: Hammann, Lot 5C — NHN The Clearing Drive
Well and Septic System Design
Dear On -Site Services Engineer:
The owner of the above lot intends to build a 4 -bedroom home on the property. We are submitting
this permit application for the construction of a new well and septic system. The attached site plan
identifies the location of the home and the proposed well and septic location and alternate site. No
conflicts exist between this proposed system and any other well or septic system on this lot or
adjacent lots.
The ground surface on the lot slopes to the southwest at grades approaching 25%. There may be
slopes greater than 25% within 50 feet downslope of either the primary or alternate site. The trench
has been designed to meet the steep slope requirements of the Municipal Code. The distribution
line is located 4' below the existing ground surface. In addition, natural vegetation within 50'
down gradient of the absorption trench will remain undisturbed. Ground contours are shown on
the site plan indicating the grade and direction of flow. Stormwater drainage will not impact this
septic system. The new trench will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible. The
new system will be a minimum of 100' from all wells and 100' from surface water and more than
5' from the septic tank.
Two test holes were placed on the lot during the subdivision phase for this lot. These test holes
are shown on the Site Plan. Soils found in the test holes are similar to those found in the three test
holes placed recently. Percolation rates in all ,five test holes ranged from 3.1 to 27 minutes per
inch. Test Hole No. 3 and Test Hole STH2 are closest to the proposed absorption trench. Their
respective percolation rates are 3.1 and 16 minutes per inch. The design of the proposed absorption
trench utilizes a blended application rate of .7 gallons per day per square foot. Receiving soils will
be monitored during the construction of the new absorption trench. A revision will be made to the
trench design if the soils differ from those found in Test Hole No. 3.

The On-site Water and Wastewater Section (On-site) may issue all approval for a homeown
to perform work on an on-site wastewater disposal system to serve that individual's owner -
occupied, single-family or duplex home if the homeowner meets and agrees to the following
requirements: I
1. The property owner and excavation equipment operator may perform work on no more
than one owner -installation project in a 12 -month period.
