Ref: Proposed Septic Upgrade for Jodhpur Subdivision #1, Lot IA,
To whom it may concern:
The existing 4 bedroom house is served by a private well and septic system. The septic system consist of a
1250 gallon tank with dual deep trench type drainfields. During our site visit in order to test the septic system,
we found that one of the drainfields was surcharged and the other appeared to have lots of dirt/debris in the
monitoring tube and cleanouts. The property owner requested that we upgrade the septic system. We are
proposing that the existing 1250 gallon septic tank be excavated and replaced with a new 2,000 gallon septic
tank (at owners request). We also are proposing that dual 5 -wide drainfields be installed. One test hole was
excavated on the property by A.W.Murfitt Company on 10/28/1991 with a confirmation test hole and
percolation test done on 9/24/1992. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole.
Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the
percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the average topography below the
drainfield is a 1-5 percent slope running approximately west to east.
We are unawaref any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. If

Dear Mr. Kincaid:
Pursuant to your request, we have designed the on site septic system for your
proposed four bedroom, single family dwelling at the referenced site. Please
find attached a copy of the boring log (drilled in November 1991, with water
monitoring tube) and percolation test results, a copy of a site plan with the
designed system and a copy of the laboratory soil grainsize distribution
classifying the absorption soil. Discussions with Mr. John Smith of the
Municipality of Anchorage, Department of Health and Human Services, indicated
that he would require a special letter regarding our use of a standard falling
head soil permeability test to size the leaching field. This letter is intended
to supplement the attached design package.
This laboratory test, we feel, provides a relatively accurate measure of the
hydraulic conductivity for this particular fine grain soil. A four inch diameter
by six inch high permenmeter cell -was used for our tests. Soil samples were
compacted, at the insitu moisture content, in the permeameter (same dimensions
as a four inch proctor mold) in accordance with.the ASTM D-1557 test procedure,
and a vacuum applied for approximately 20 minutes to remove air in the voids and
saturate the samples. Note that this test procedure (falling head) is not
recommended for soils with less than 12 percent SILT and coarse granular soils.
This test procedure is not intended to replace the actual field permeability test
.and must be used selectively on finer grained soils. The soils at this site are
relatively uniform SILTY SANDS which appear to be cleaner (less SILT) with depth.
Test results showed a percolation rate of 8 minutes per at the 8 to 8.5 foot
level and 6 minutes per inch at the 8.5 to 9 foot level. The design sewerage
application rate, by the M.O.A. criteria, is 0.8 gallons per day per square foot
of leaching soil for a percolation rate of 6 to 15 minutes per inch. Our
measured rates fall well within this design range. The soil samples were
recovered during our test hole drilling in November 1991. It is our opinion that
this procedure allowed a controlled evaluation of this particular leach field
soil at a relatively cost effective price for you, the client. Variables such
as test hole side wall smear, hole caving and test water free fall, all affecting
a field permeability test, were eliminated in the laboratory procedure. In
addition, we have been doing the U.S. Public Health Service, Alaska Area Native
Health Service, permeability testing to evaluate soil percolation for the past

several years and accordingly, have gathered a lot of data on this subject.

In conducting this evaluation, GEG, LtD. attempted to provide a thorough,
conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with ADEC and MOA
DSD Guidelines 6 Regulations. The reported results described the performance of the
system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test, and separation
distances measured to readily Identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and
septic systems depend on the local soils condition, groundwater levels that may
fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system.
These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of the system. Satisfactory test
results do not guarantee future performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that
there are no hidden defects or encroachments. GEG, LTD. can therefore not provide
any warranty or future estimate of how long the system will continue to meet the
operational requirements of the ADEC or MOA DSD. The content of this report Is for
the sole benefit of the owner listed above. Any reliance upon or use of this report by any
other person or party Is not authorized, nor will it confer any legal right whatsoever.

Ref: Conditional Health Authority Approval for Lot IA; Jodhpur Subdivision #1.
The existing 4 bedroom house on the referenced property is served by a private well and septic
system. During our site visit, we performed a well test and a septic system evaluation. We found
that the ligiud level in one of the trenches was higher then the distribution line. The other
drainficld did have liquid level in the drainGeld but was not submerged. Per the request of the
owner. we proceeded with a design to upgrade the septic system and did not perform an
adequacy tcsL The system appears to be functional and will not cause any health hazard until it
can be upgraded. We request a conditional Health Authority Approval be granted with the
upgrade to take place in the spring or summer of 2005.
