Ref: Drainage Concerns regarding Bear Ridge Subdivision; Lot 10,
Mr. Goodall:
It is our understanding that you may have some concerns regarding the drainage easement along
the south lot line of the referenced property. This drainage easement does have surface run-off
during heavy rainfalls and during melt -off periods. However, during our multiple site visits for
the inspection of this and neighboring septic systems, and also the inspection of the road, we
have not seen any surface water within 100 feet of the septic system. From our observation, the
surface water flows from the culvert in the cul-de-sac and runs 50 to 75 feet downhill and then
disappears subsurface. Based upon this information, it is our opinion that there are no concerns
regarding separation distance from the septic system to surface water. We request the as -built

Ref: Proposed Septic Upgrade for Bear Ridge Subdivision; Lot 10,
To whom it may concern:
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. We are proposing to install
a new 1250 gallon septic tank and a 5 -wide trench type drainfield. One test hole was excavated on the
property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. Comments regarding the
design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, I and the
percolation test result. As can be seen on the attached soil log the pecolation rate was <1 minute inch. The soil
was classified as a GP -GM material, based upon our visual assessment the insitu silty, sandy soils should act as
a sand filter.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There is a drainage ditch that runs along the south lot line. A site visit was made
on 8/4/06 and the ditch was found to be dry and have no evidence of water running through it. The septic
system is to be installed 100+ feet from any surface water.

4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the average topography below the
dminfield is a 1-5 percent slope running approximately northeast to southwest. In short, there are no slope
concerns.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.

As certified by my seal affixed hereto and as of the validation date shown below, i verify that my
investigation, based on procedures outlined in the Certificate of On -Site Systems Approval Guidelines for this application,
shows that the on-site water supply and/or wastewater disposal system is (are) safe, functional and adequate
for the number of bedrooms and type of structure indicated herein. 1 further verify that based on the
information obtained from the Municipality of Anchorage files and from my investigation and inspection, the
on-site water supply and/or wastewater disposal system is(are) in compliance with all applicable Municipal
and State codes, ordinances, and regulations in effect at the time of installation.

Engineer's Comments:
In conducting this evaluation, GEG, LN). attempted to provide a thorough,
conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with ADEC and MOA
DSD Guidelines B Regulations. The reported results described the performance of the
system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test, and separation
distances measured to readily identifiable features. The op amtiona/ life of all walls and
septic systems depend on the local soils condition, groundwater levels that may
fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system.
These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of the system. Satisfactory test
results do not guarantee future performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that
there are no hidden defects or encroachments. GEG, LTD. can therefore not provide
any warranty or future estimate of how long the system will continue to meet the
operational requirements of the ADEC or MOA DSD. The content of this report is for
the sole benefit of the owner listed above. Any reliance upon or use of this report by any
other person or party is not authorized, nor will it confer any legal right whatsoever.
