Narrative & Permit Application.
Dear Mr. Roth:
Eagle River Engineering Services (FRES) was contacted by the owner of the property noted
above to design a well and septic system to serve a new 4 bedroom house, with room for a 5
bedroom upgrade in the future. Test holes indicated free -draining soils from 1 to 10.5 feet below
ground surface. The water table was on May 1" and was measured to be 4' below ground
surface. We are also utilizing the original test hole excavated by Gamess Engineering as part of
our design. The homeowner wishes to utilize Advantex technology to minimize the size of the
leachfield, and due to the soil type for longevity of the drainfield. The leachfield and septic tank
shall be sized for a 5 bedroom single family residence, but only one Advantex AX -20 Filter Pod
shall be installed at this time, making it capable of treating the effluent for a 4 bedroom house.
By adding an additional AX -20 filter pod in the future, the entire system shall be adequate for a 5
bedroom residence.
The topography at the leachfield site is a consistent 150/* -20% toward the southwest.
The proposed 5 bedroom septic system and well will have very limited impact on adjacent
properties for the following reasons:
1. The surrounding lots are large and currently vacant, so there is room for wells,
septic systems and alternate sites.
2. Drainage will not be affected and is not a major consideration in our design.

Installation of this 5 bedroom Advantex septic system, to our best available knowledge, will not
adversely affect the wells or septic systems or reserve areas on adjacent lots. If you have any

SPECIFICATIONS FOR ON-SITE SEPTIC SYSTEM—MOA CERTIFIED INSTALLER
LEGAL: Dear Ridge Lot 2

A. GENERAL
1. The septic plan is for a 4 bedroom single family residence only.
2. The drawing and or site plan shall be a part of this specification.
3. All materials and workmanship shall meet the Anchorage Department of Ilealth and State Department
of Environmental Conservation requirements.
4. All soil tests are advisory to the design and are to be verified or modified in the field by the engineer.
5. All excavations and depths are advisory and are to be verified in the field by the contractor to meet
Municipality of Anchorage, Department of Environmental Conservation requirements.
6. It is the responsibility of the owner to obtain all necessary permits or easements and to locate any
adjacent multi -family wells. A licensed surveyor should locate any utility easements and exact 100'
radius from the existing and neighboring on-site wells.
7. The excavation is to be exactly in the area shown on the site plan, any deviation requires engineer
approval.
8. Any remaining open test hole excavations shall be filled and monitor tube removed.
D. ADVENTEX SYSTEM AND SEPTIC TANK
1. Septic tank shall be a fiberglass or steel 2000 -gallon tank capacity of MOA approved construction for
use with Advantex system. Install as per current manufacturers recommendations for conditions in
Alaska.
2. Install one AX -20 filter pod over septic tank capable of treating 600 gallons per day of waste flow.
Filter Pod shall be positioned to allow room for a second AX -20 Filter Pod.
3. If gravity feed can not be achieved, Install Orenco 24" pump basin PD -2496 outside septic tank,
with OSI pump model P30-05 and controls to allow 23 gallon dosing of septic leachfield. Set pump
float to 13.5" above pump, timer for 1 minute dose time. Controls to be installed to MOA code by
licensed electrician familiar with OSI applications. Controls to include a dedicated phone line and web
based monitoring system.
4. A municipal inspection report or receipt from a licensed electrician shall be provided to the
engineer verifying lift station wiring to all applicable codes.
C. DRAINFIELD
1. The drainfield is to be located as shown on the site plan.
2. The total depth of the initial drainfield excavation is to be at a maximum P deep, or as required to
remove the topsoil layer, and end in native sandy GM -type soil..
3. Approximately 1.5' of sand shall be imported to achieve 4' separation distance to the water table
measured at the adjacent monitor tube. The top of the sand layer shall be level, plus or minus 1.5", and
raked, prior to placing sewer rock. Care shall be taken to not compact the sand.
4. Continous heavy mil visqueen shall be placed full depth of the sand and sewer rock on the downhill
edge of the Icachfield.
5. A one foot (1.0') layer of sewer rock is to be placed over the sand layer. The 4" effluent piping is to be
buried within the gravel layer with 2" of gravel cover over the piping, and 6" effective depth beneath
the effluent pipe.

6. The completed drainfield gravel and piping is to be covered with typar fabric material.
7. Soil or combination of soil and extruded board insulation to a depth of Y or equivalent is to be placed
over the bed. Mounded side slopeson uphill side and ends arc not to exceed 3:1.
8. The septic tank and Icachfield must not be closer than 100' to any existing private well, 150' to any
Class "C" well, or 200 feet to any community well.
