Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519 Re: Douthit Subdivision, Lot 1 & 2 Formerly T14N R2W Sec. 12 Lot 8 .1 -11417 - Dear Mr. Roth, Eagle River Engineering Services (ERES) has, at our client's request, investigated the suitability of this proposed lot subdivision for on-site wastewater systems and water supply. We have done this by digging test holes on each lot and researching neighboring well logs. The existing house on the proposed Lot 1 has an undocumented septic system, and a well that encroaches within the Right -of -Way. We are proposing to drill a new well on this lot. Lot 2 is undeveloped, and we have designed a well location and have found a suitable site for a septic system and two replacement leachfields. Soils on both lots are at least 8' of well graded sand, underlain with a clayey layer with some evidence of water on top of this clayey layer. Wide drainfields may be utilized on each lot. We have found that neighboring wells produce anywhere from 5-30 gallons per minute. Water quality records, where available, do not show elevated coliform or nitrate levels. Please see attached well logs for additional information. Well logs show that the aquifer is confined beneath a layer of hardpan (overconsolidated silt) and/or clay, and is therefore a confined aquifer. We believe that new wells on these two proposed lots will have virtually no affect on the ability of this underlying aquifer to produce water at or above the Municipality's required flow rate. We are providing you with construction inspection reports so that the subject property can be subdivided. However, the new well has not had a pump installed yet. The old well is still in use, and we are requesting temporary approval to keep the old well in use until the ground thaws to allow installation of a new waterline to the new well, and so that the existing well can be abandoned per MOA codes.
