Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: Lot 2A Eagle River Valley Ranchettes Septic System Upgrade Permit Request Gentlemen: I am writing to request a permit to construct an upgraded septic system be issued for this property. The proposed systems will serve an existing three-bedroom house. This lot and the surrounding lots are served by AWWU water system. The class A well is located greater than 200 feet from the proposed system. 1. Soils. See the attached soils log. Ground water was monitored for seven days through the end of May. Ground water was not encountered in the test holes nor found in the monitor tube during the water -monitoring period. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. A percolation test was performed. It is my opinion that the overall soils appearance of the soils, an application rate of 1.2 gallons/day/square feet should be used using a conventional treatment system. 2. Trench Design. a. Percolation Rate: 1-5 Min Per Inch b. Application Rate: 1.2 gpdpsf c. Number of Bedrooms: 3 d. Design Flow: 450 gallons per day e. Min. Absorption Area: 375 sf L Total depth: 9 feet g. Effective Depth: 5 feet h. Width: 2-3 feet i. Reduction Factor: 0.0 j. Minimum Length: 37.5 feet k. Design Length: 38 feet 1. Effective Absorption Area: 380sf m. Septic Tank Size: 1000 gallon. Page 2 of 2 3. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed system. The proposed systems will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. 4. Topography: The average topography in the area of the proposed septic system is approximately two percent. The west property line has a four -foot retaining wall running the entire length. A section shows that the effluent will not day -light under this retaining wall. The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots. There are no wells or septic systems within 100 feet of the proposed septic location. The existing septic tank will be abandoned in place per the code and a new tank will be installed.
