Percolation test were performed at these locations on June 13, 2011. The results of these tests and water monitoring are attached. No groundwater has been observed in either hole at any point. We propose to install a 2' wide deep trench septic system on this property. The percolation rate for the test hole adjacent to the proposed primary drainfield is 5 min/inch, which is within the range allowed for a deep trench system. For the proposed 4 bedroom house and a 6' deep trench, a length of 42' is required ((4xl50/l.2)/(2x6)--41.7'). The system will have a minimum cover of 4'-0". The proposed site slopes 30%; a request for a slope waiver is attached. Due to system depth, we request a special provision to probe the test holes to 16' (6' below drainfield) prior to construction to verify separation to groundwater and impermeable layers. Probed holes will be monitored for groundwater for 7 days in accordance with AMC 15.65.06084. Based on well logs and test holes documented on Lot 5 (South), Lot 7 (West), and Lot 12 (East) of the site which show the nearest impermeable layer 20.5 to 37 feet below grade and no groundwater encountered to at least 15' below grade (the deepest test hole is on Lot 5 at 15' with no groundwater encountered), we do not anticipate encountering either groundwater or impermeable layers, however we understand that proceeding under a special provision is at our risk. The septic tank for the system will be a 1250 gallon insulated polyethylene tank. The system will be inspected by a registered engineer 1) when all excavation is completed, and 2) when the septic system is installed and the system is ready to be backfilled. The proposed well is West of the house and Northwest and uphill from the septic drainfield. There are no public or private wells or surface water within a 100' radius of the proposed location. There are no known curtain drains near the site. We do not expect that there will be any adverse effect on adjacent lots by the development of this system. The slope conditions on the site will not allow the wastewater disposal field to be located 50' horizontally up gradient from a change in slope to greater than 25%. We propose to install the disposal field in accordance with MOA memorandum dated April 7, 2004. Per this memorandum, a line at a 25% slope beginning 2.5' above the distribution pipe invert must intersect actual grade a minimum of 35' horizontally from the point 2.5' above the pipe invert. The proposed site slopes at 30%. We propose to locate the pipe invert 4'-0" below grade, which will cause the hypothetical line at 25% slope to intersect the actual slope 36'-0" horizontally from the point above the invert.
