The septic system is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to inspect the existing septic tank to confirm it's structural integrity and if deemed necessary, replace it with a 1000 gallon septic tank° We are proposing to install a dual deep trench type drainfieldo Attached are a site plan and a design drawing showing the proposed septic system. One test hole was excavated on the property° The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1o SOILS: See the attached logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results° 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There is a creek located to the north of the proposed drainfields, These drainfields will be at least 100 feet away from the creek, to insure the separation distance it is noted on the design to have the creek setback flagged by a registered land surveyor° 4. TOPOGRAPHY: The topography of the area for the septic system is mounded. The top of the mound where we proposed to install the dual trenches is relatively flat but the slopes vary between 25-50%. See the slope waiver request below regarding the cutbank. 5. LOT LINE WAIVER: Due to site constraints, we are requesting a 1'+ lot line waiver from the west lot line to the proposed drainfield. · The proposed trenches meet the separation distance requirement of 10'+ or twice the effective depth. 3701 E. SLOPE WAIVER: We are requesting a waiver be granted from the drainfield to the cutbanko As can be seen on the attached drawing, at a 25% slope (starting 2.5 feet above the drainfield) the potential point of daylighting is greater than 50' horizontally from the trenches~ The following are mitigating factors for the justification of these waivers: · The proposed septic system is located relatively close to the referenced properties driveway and the neighboring driveway. If effluent were to surface it would be noticed and the problem would be addressed immediately. In short there is minimal risk associated with the grating of these waivers. We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems° If you have any questions, please contact us at 337-6179.
