Stitt, Sanitarian Greater Anchorage Health District 217 ]~ Street, P O Box 968 Anchorage, Alaska Dear Mr. St itt: Enclosed is a platt of the Crestview Subdivision, compri- sing appro'ximately 10 acres. We w mld greatly appreciate your reconsideration of our suggestion that we be permit- ted to drill test holes of at least 25 foot depth, in search of porous beds that could possibly take care of the overflow from the particular cess pools that are causing ~rouble. It is our opinion that this would not cause any contamination of any usuable water table on the property, and it would certainly be preferable, if successful, to an open pond, which has been approved and then rejected, dur- ing the past two years. Neither does there seem to be any logical place to put such a pond on the property. The enclosed plat shows the location of the artesian well, which is approximately 167 feet deep. No usable water was found at a lesser depth, at the time it was drilled. Our thought was to use the overflow design so as to eliminate any possibility of raw sewage entering the drilled holes. The treatment plant formerly moved onto the west border of the ten acres in question cost $12,600, and was to serve the gemmral area, including Crestbrook, across the way (south). Due to its approval being, withdraw~, after protests of resi- dents in the area, the plant was removed and Crestbrook has been dormant, ever since, even tho some $60,000 was spent laying in the now m unused sewer system in the proposed streets, there being no outfall. We are more than willing to cooperate in any workable solu- tion to this problem. JUL .~0 1963 GHT: gct Enc 1. ~EATER ANCHORAGV. REPRESENTATIVES IIEALTH DISTRICT ALASKA BUSINESS PROPERTIES, INC.
