A test holes were excavated and found SP poorly graded sands and gravels with no water during the excavation or after the 7 day monitoring period. The septic tank was replaced in 1992 and will be inspected during the installation of the trench. The perc rate was 2 minutes per inch therefore the design consists of 8 feet of effective depth for 70 feet. All of the lots on the north side are served by community water. No cut banks or slopes exist due to the flat area (less than 3 percent)where the new proposed trench will be located. The tank shall be set level on undisturbed soil.The tank. shall be covered with the equivalent of four feet of soil. Notify O~ner or Enginmer of any observed possible conflict. 4.2 Stake alignment of system with markers showing the protective distances from wells and water bodies. 4.3 Establish an elevation benchmark. Record the inlet and outlet elevations of the tank. Tank shall be placed on undisturbed native soil. 4..5 Excavate the absorption field. Bottom of excavation shall be level and scarified. If sidewalls smears., they shall also be scarified. Record elevation of each corner and center point° of bed. Construction equipment shall not oper- ate on the floor of the excavation. Any material compacted by the operation of the construction equipment shall removed and replaced with uncompacted materials. 4.6 Place the rock to the depth specified. Do not contami- nate rock with native materials or spoils from the excava- tion. Level the rock surface (+- 1") before installing the perforated pipe. 4.7 Install the distribution pipe. Record the elevation of each joint. For pressure system solvent weld the joints. 4.8 Cover the distribution pipe with rock, and cover the excavation with geotexti le before backf i 11 lng. Plate a minimum of 6 inches of excess material over the bed to compensate for settling and compaction of the back'fill. Grade the finished grade to provide posit~ive surface drain- age away from the bed. 4..9 Record the finish ground elevation at each corner and at the midpoint of the bed. 4.10 Furnish a copy of all survey notes to the Engineer. 5.0 INSPECTIONS 5.1 A minimum of three inspect, ions are required. The first inspection will be of the open excavation. At this time the soil conditions will be observed and compared to the design assumptions. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of July 19, 1974, and those~procedures outlined in a letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put down within bhe Lot 5 area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor-mounted backhoe and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 15.0 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-01. Ground water was not encountered in the test hole. We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service to you.
