Planning Department Enclosure GEOLOGIC SOIL INVESTIGATION OF CHENOWETH SUBDIVISION Legal Description: Lots 176, 176A, 179 & 179A, SW 1/4. Section 33, T 12 N, R 3 W, S.M. Report to: Mr. C. E. Chenoweth Jr. October 8, 1971 Prepared by: HEWITT ¥. LOUNSBURY & ASSOCIATES 723 West 6th Avenue Anchorage, Alaska INTRODUCTION This report is the result of our field soil investigation conducted October 7, 1971 on the proposed Chenoweth Subdivision. Legal Des- cripiton: Lots 176, 176A, 179 & 179A, Southwest one-quarter, Section 33, Township 12 North, Range 3 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska. The ChenoWeth Subdivision is a newly proposed residential area being planned exclusive of public water and sewer utilities. Development of adequate sanitary facilities will be the responsibility of the ~individual property owners. Sewage disposal will consist of con- ventional septic tanks draining into a seepage pit and/or drain field. The water source will be from individually drilled and cased wellS. The purpose of the investigation was to define in detail the soils conditions within the property and determine area requirements for proper sewer seepage in the particular soil found. INVESTIGATION Our investigation consisted of (1) a geologic review of the general area, and (2) field inspection and analysis of gravel pit cuts on the property. SUBSURFACE SOILS & CONDITIONS Specific types and depths of soils are shown in the enclosed field inspection report. The soils were found to be well graded gravel (GW) with a top soil cover of one to two feet. The cut was to a depth of over 30'. below the undistrubed soil surface and subsequent terraces were to a depth of 80 feet or more, all revealing the same gravel material. No impervious layers were found therefore, no water table within twelve feet of'the surface is expected. CONCLUSION From the information gathered during our investigation we concluded that the soil conditions are well suited for the proposed residential development sanitary sewer needs. The minimum horizontal seepage area requirements for individual systems based on 10' to 12' depth pits and 3 feet of cover will - be 85 squre feet per bedroom. R~e~ectful ly submitted, ~r6n H.
