IF A SAND FILTER IS USED IN THIS SYSTEM, THE SAND USED SHALL BE A CLEAN COARSE SAND WITH
4% OR LESS PASSING THE #100 SIEVE AND 2% OR LESS PASSING THE #200 SIEVE. A SIEVE ANALYSIS
MUST BE PROVIDED ON THE SAND USED OR OBTAINED FROM AN APPROVED SOURCE.

Ref: Well & Septic System for Fairmount Subdivision, Lot 11
To whom it may concern:
Thc subject property is currently undeveloped. Thc property owner is proposing to build a
3-bedroom ho~ne on the site which will require the installation ora well and a septic systc~n.
Comments regarding the proposed systems are summarized below.
1. SOIl,S: Attached is a copy of thc soil log. The log documents thc found soil profile from thc
ground surface to a depth of 11 feet below the ground surthce. The predominate soil was a
slightly silty sandy gravel. Water was encountered at the botto~n of thc excavation as was a laycr
of clay material which is considered impermeable. No percolation test was performed in the clay
due to the depth of the layer. Thc receiving soil bad a percolation rate faster than 1 minute per
inch and, as such, a sand liner may be required. Thc groundwater elevation stabilized at a depth
of 7.6 feet below the surhce.
2. ABSORPTION BED DESIGN:
a. Percolation Rate: Faster than 1 minute per inch.
b. Allowable Application Rate: .7 gallons/day/fl2 (receiving sand layer)
c. Number of Bedrooms: 3
d. Design Flow: 450 gallons per day
e. Minimum Absorption Area: 643 s.l[

groundwater level measured during the monitoring period.

3. SURFACE WATERS: There arc no snrface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic
system Thc south property line is formed by the water's edge of] ,ittle Rabbit Creek. Although,
there arc rebar set at the southern terminus office cast and west lot lines per the subdivision plat,
these monuments do not represent the south property line.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: The lot is gently sloping (2-3%) downhill, kom east to west and vel3~
lightly from north to south. In short, there arc no slope concerns. Immediately next to the creek
the slope is greater than 25%, however, this slope is limited and overshadowed by the 100-ft set
back requirement l?om the water's edge. Drainage arrows are shown on thc site plan.
5. SAND LINER: There exists a layer of sand of varying thickness beneath the proposed area of
the new septic system. I propose to supplement this sand layer with imported filter sand as
required to provide a 2-ft thickness beneath the absorption bed. No imported sand will be used in
areas where the existing sand layer is 2 feet or thicker and, also, in areas where thc predominate
soil constitnent is sand (51% or more sand) and is 2 feet or thicker. At this time, the proposed
bed will lie immediately above thc existing sand layer.
6. IMPACTS: On the basis of the my site visits and the available site intbrmation, there appears
to be no adverse impacts on adjacent wells or septic systems nor restrictions to furore
develol)ment of ad. jacent lots. If you have questions, please contact me at 345-7453. Thank you

On-site Sewer & Well Permit #860228
A permit issued by this Department for an individual well
and/or on-site sewer system has expired as of December 31,
1986.
Permits are issued on a calendar year basis by authority
of Municipal Ordinance. A new permit must be obtained from
this Department for any well and/or on-site sewer system not
installed by the expiration date.
If you have drilled the well, a well log needs to be sent to
this Department for documentation of the installation and to
close the permit.
If a private engineer inspected the installation of the on-site
sewer system the original as-built inspection report (three part
form) must be sent to this office for review and approval, and
for documentation.
If there are any further questions, please call this office
at 264-4744.
