Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519 Re: Beam Sub Lot 2 Emergency Tank Replacement Permit request Dear Mr. Roth: The septic tank on the lot identified above has collapsed, creating an immediate health risk. The proposed emergency septic tank replacement will have very limited impact on adjacent properties for the following reasons: 1. The surrounding lots arc all of adequate size, allowing sufficient room for septic sites if planned accordingly. 2. Immediate neighboring septic systems are all +30' distance, and wells +100'. 3. This permit is for replacement of the septic tank only. 4. Drainage will not be affected and is not a major consideration in our design. 5. Septic Tank will be moved to outside of 100' radius of onsite well. The existing primary septic tank is collapsed, and needs to be replaced immediately. The secondary septic tank will be removed as well, and a 1250 gallon septic tank will be installed. Drainage will not be affected, and is not a consideration in our design. Existing leachfield appears to be functioning adequately. This work will not affect the reserve area on adjacent lots. If you have any questions please call our office at 694-5195. The septic tank replacement plan is for a 4 bedroom single family residence only. 2. The drawing and or site plan shall be apart of this specification. 3. All materials and workmanship shall meet the Anchorage Department of Ilealth and State Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. 4. All soil tests are advisory to the design and are to be verified or modified in the field by the engineer. 5. All excavations and depths are advisory and are to be verified in the field by the contractor to meet Municipality of Anchorage, Department of Environmental Conservation requirements. 6. It is the responsibility of the owner to obtain all necessary permits or easements and to locate any adjacent multi -family wells. 7. The excavation is to be exactly in the area shown on the site plan, any deviation requires engineer approval. B. SEPTIC TANK 1. The sewer piping from the house shall be 4" PVC 3034 laid at 2% grade maximum — 1% minimum and insulated with 2" of burial foam if shallower than 3 ft., with 2 ft. minimum. 2. Septic Tank shall be a minimum of 1,250 gallon tank of MOA approved construction, insulated, or place with 4' of soil cover, min. 3. Install opposing 4"double cleanouts between septic tank and leachfield. 4. Connect tank effluent line into leachfield. No 90 -degree bends shall be used. Double 45 degree elbows shall be used in lieu of 90 degree elbows. Twenty-four (24) hours notice required for all inspections. Caution! This specification Is for the installation of the NEW septic tank ONLY. Operations pertaining to the removal of the existing collapsed septic tank under the entryway are NOT the responsibility or liability of ERES, LLC or Christopher R. Wood, PE. SHAFER Reference: Lot 2; Beam Subdivision in Section 9, T15N, R1W CIVIL ENGINEER 694-4979 October 26, 1982 An adequacy test was performed on the absorption trench serving the septic tank system located on the referenced property. The purpose of this test was to determine if the absorption trench would provide adequate percolation for five bedrooms, instead of four as originally designed. A continuous flow of approximately 764 gallons of water was placed into the trench over a period of 24 hours, without any adverse effects on the system. The water level in the sump at the end of the trench remained static during the entire testing period. It can be concluded from this test that the absorption system appears to be adequate for five bedrooms; however, it cannot be guaranteed against subsequent deterioration or failure. For the entire system to be considered adequate for five bedrooms, it will be necessary that you install an additional 500 gallon capacity septic tank on the end of the existing tank, and that you re -install the clean-out on the entrance of the existing tank. A permit to accomplish this work needs to be obtained from the Municipality. We will be happy to inspect the installation of the additional tank.
