Peck G~ER ANCHORAGE AREA BOROUGHL~ Department of Environmental Quality MEMORANDUM March 7, 1973 TO: Rolf Strickland j~ FROM: Tim Rumfelt ~/ SUBJECT: Swiss Aires Subdivision On March 6, 1973 I inspected the glaciated portion of this subdivision and found that the tops for the stand pipes for the existing sewage disposal systems are all at least 2' above the ice. Chief Sanitarian S~J'iss Aire Lateral Iml, rove~en~ District #57 The Greater Anchora§:J Area Borough, i)e?artment of Environmental Quality has received and reviet,~ed th~ engineering plans for the subject project. We find that th'ese plans meet with all conditions with whici~ this Department is concerned. 'Je note that on manilole SA-q you are ~aking s~ecial precautions to insure ti)~~ watertight integrity of ti~is manhole since it is witi)in the 80° radius of ~he well si gJ)t. We do have som~: concern, ho~:ev(.~r, on Lot l, Block 2, King Subdivision where your aerial p, hoto shows a rather large apartmen'~ house. This apartment house, b~cause of its location~ is served by a well ~hich would be also classed semi-public Class "A". Our records do not indicate t,yhere this ~ell is located and we are unable to contact owner of the apartment house. We would advise you that prior to the construction of the sewer line down ~adine Place, t)~is exact well location s~ould be known so that the~proper design of the se~,,,er line can be used. The above conditions result in a public health threat to the area and it is therefore the request of the Department of Environmental Quality that early action be taken to pro- vide public sewers to this area.
