Re: Soil tests for individual On-site Sewage Systems
Dear Dan:
At Nat Goodhue's request, we have completed seven (7)
test borings on the referenced Project.
The purpose of these test borings was to determine the
soil types occurring on each lot within the subdivision
and to establish the.drainage area required in the leaching
trenches for on-site sewage systems.
The test borings were drilled in the exact locations as
directed by Mr. Goodhue, and, as shown on the enclosed
subdivision map.
In test holes #1 and #2, a visual analysis was made to
determine the required drainage areas. In test holes #3,
4, 5, 6, & 7 percolation tests were performed to determine
the required drainage area. The results of these tests are
included wlth this report.
If you have any questions, please contaot our office.
Very truly yours,

SubJect: Soils Information - Taiga Subdivision
Dear Mr. Strickland:
I am furnishing herewith, as we discussed on the telephone today, a letter
from Mr. Jim Mack of Construction TestLab, who obtained soils information in
1973 on the 226 acre parcel of which Mr. Nat Goodhue is subdividing an 18.2
acre tract. Mr. Goodhue's subdivision plan, as shown by the preliminary
plat submitted to your office, is to divide the 18.2 acre tract into 7 lots,
averaging approximately 2.6 acres per lot.
As stated in our application for preliminary approval, we requested a waiver
from furnishing soils information on each lot because of the consistency of
the soils in the area (shown by the test holes submitted) and the proximity
of these test holes to the subdivision site. Also, it is almost impossible
to reach the proposed subdivision site with drilling equipment because the
access road has not yet been completed.
Based on the letter furnished to your office by Construction TestLab, we
request that the waiver for soils information be granted for a period extending
through the preliminary approval stage of the project.
Mr. Goodhue agrees that prior to recording the final subdivision plat, soils
tests will be performed on each of the 7 lots in the subdivision and submitted
to your office for approval.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
Very truly yours,

Re: Taiga Subdivision
Dear Mr. Strickland:
Dan Chapman, of Tryck, Nyman & Hayes, requested that we
furnish information to your office concerning the soils
in Taiga Subdivision, a tract proposed to be subdivided
which lies within a 226 acre parcel where test holes
were excavated in 1973 and our company ran sieve analyses
on the soils taken from these holes. None of the holes
are located within the tract which is proposed to be
subdivided, however, based on test results from the soil
samples obtained from test hole #1, #6, #7, #8 & #9,
which are adjacent to Tiaga Subdivision, we feel that the
subsurface soils will be very similar. The soils encount-
ered in these previous test holes were classified as
coarse sandy gravels (GP-GW) or silty sandy gravels (GM)
and are suitable for on-site sewage systems.
Please contact our office if you need additional
information.
