SPECIAL PROVISIONS ISSUED By:~~ James Sizemore & Associates Civil Engineers & Surveyors 6410 Switzerland Drive Anchorage, AK 99511; (907) 345-1572 WASTEWATER DISPOSAL SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS LOT 11, PARK PLACE SUBDIVISION 1.0 GENERAL: 1.1 The scope of the project consist of installation of a 1250 ga[Ion septic Tank and a five foot wide by 70.0 feet long wide drainfield. 1.2 Construction shall be as shown on the approved site plan and design drawings. Deviations from the approved design drawings shall be coordinated and approved by the engineer conducting the inspections. 1.3 All construction procedures and material used to construct the system shall eompIy with Municipal and State regulations. 1.4 Unless spccificalIy agreed otherwise, the homeowner shall be responsible for finish grading areas after the system is constructed and soil is compacted and mounded over the wide trench disposal field and the Septic Tank. 2.0 SEPTIC TANK 2.1 The 1250 gallon septic tank shall have two compartments and shall comply with Municipality of Anchorage Requirements. 2.2 The septic tank shall be set level and shall be bedded as necessary to prevent settling or shifting of the tank. 2.3 All pipe connections to the septic tank shah be made with waterproof mechanical couplings. A cleanout shall be installed upstream of the tank within 5 feet of the house foundation. A double cleanout shall be installed downstream, within 5 feet of the septic tank. 3.0 SOIL ABSORPTION DRA1NFIELD: 3. g The soil absorptio~lrainfield shall be a 5' x'7~.~' x 4' deep trench with total of 2.$ ft. of sewer rock/~-~I;~ fi. beneath the perforated drain pipe. 3.2 The bottom of the excavation shall be level. Any compacted or smeared surfaces shall be raked to allow for proper infiltration of effluent. This includes both the sides and bottom of the trench. 3.3 Sewer rock shall be 0.5 - 2,5" screened gravel with less than 3% passing the #200 sieve. 3.4 Cleanout pipes and monitor tubes shall be 4" diameter and installed as shown on the plans. The portion of the monitor tube extending through the sewer rock shall be perforated. 4.0 ENGINEERING INSPECTIONS 4.1 A minimum of four engineering inspections will be required during construction of the system. One after the septic tank is set prior to its backfill, one after excavation of the absorption trench prior to placement of sewer rock, one after the distribution piping, cleanouts and monitoring tube are in place. The final inspection shall be after filter fabric is placed and the final grading are complete. 4.2 The contractor shall coordinate with the engineer at least 24 hours prior to start of construction. If the contractor desires, a site visit with the engineer prior to start of construction can be arranged. PROBABLE IMPACTS TO ADJACENT PROPERTIES A) WELLS The proposed wastewater disposal system is designed in accordance with current Municapality of Anchorage Wastewater Disposal Regulations. The proposed drainfield will be constructed in accordance with these regulations. The separation distance from wells on adjacent properties is greater than 100 fi. Therefore no unacceptable impacts are expected on the wells located on adjacent properties. B) WASTEWATER SYSTEMS The new drainfield will be constructed with good separation distance from systems on adjacent lots. Soils tests have shown the soil where the system is to be constructed is acceptable for and an on-site disposal system, therefore there should be no unacceptable impacts on adjacent wastewater disposal systems. C) RESERVED SPACE/SURFACE AND SUBSURFACE The large lot that this system will be constructed on has ample space, both surface and subsurface reserved for a replacement system. The proposed drainfield should not affect adjacent properties. D) DRAINAGE The location of the draintield will not interfere with any drainage. The area disturbed during construction of the field will be graded and sloped so as to not pond water, Therefore this system shouldn't adversely affect adjacent properties, Zabel Z200 Flow Divider, Zabel Z200 D Flow Director BRAND NEW FOR 94- The Zabel Flow Divider replaces old fashioned distribution boxes and pipe manifolds and The Zabel Flow Director replaces expensive, old fashioned Y-valves. They are also more effective and easi,e,r to install. Ail Zabel products are manufactured Rom high quality injection molded PVC and carry Zabel s Lifetime Warranty if parts fail due to manufacturer s defect in material or workmanship. The warranty does not include replacement parts not sold by Zabel and does not include labor for removal or reinstallati°n. 1. The Flow Divide distributes effluent leaving the 1. Septic tank by means of a patented central ~veir design that insures the flow is evenly divided even if the Flow Divider is not perfectly level. 2. The inlet pipe of the Flow Divider is constructed 2. so that effluent will flow from it and down into the effluent into two equal portions. 3. Distributes flow better than D-boxes and mani- folds that are subject to frost heave or ground settling. 4. Testing shows that even with a level discrepancy of 1/8" or more between the right and left port, the division of the flow was almost 50/50. A standard 3. D-box or manifold distorts the flow under these ' same conditions. · Manufactured from injection molded PVC. · Always insures an even flow. · Doesn't create solids build up. · Will not clog. · Lifetime Warranty. Laboratory Test Results using 1000 ml samples @ 3 gpm/ Level Right Port Left Port 1/16" Tilt Right Port Left Port 1/8" Tilt Right Port Left Port Average Distribution 50.03% 49.97% 50.2% 49.8% 51.3% 48.7% The Flow Director is a Flow Divider with a pat- ented sleeve valve installed to distribute the efflu- ent flow to a primary field of your choice and allows the secondary field to rest until needed. The Flow Divider automatically back flows from the primary to the secondary field and does not depend on the homeowner to change the sleeve valve in the Flow Director. A standard Y-valve is dependent on the homeowner to change the flow direction at the proper time. Unfortunately, this usually does not happen and a problem develops such as an effluent break out resulting in ground water contamination. At the time the septic tank is normally serviced, the septic tank service company can redirect the flow allowing the primary field the opportunity to rest.
