Hearth & Human Serwc~s Class 'C' Public Water System and Wastewater Disposal System; Lot 1, Kodiak Subdivision; ADEC Project Numbers 9221-DW-027 and 9221-DWW-018 Dear Mr. Anderson: This is in response to your submittals in support of your request for operational approvals for the above referenced Public Water System and Wastewater Disposal System. I have reviewed the submitted information and have the following comments. WASTEWATER DISPOSAL SYSTEM: The results of the adequacy test indicate that the wastewater disposal system is adequate to handle the volume of wastewater from the shop/office that it serves. In addition, this Department is accepting your professional opinion that the existing three feet of cover over the septic system will be sufficient to prevent freezing of the system. Therefore, in accordance with 18 AAC 72, the wastewater disposal system is approved for the concerns of this Department. This letter constitutes the Department's approval of this wastewater disposal system. DRINKING WATER SYSTEM: Based on a peak water demand determined by the American Water Works Association method, the Department is requesting that a total pressure tank acceptance volume of 50 gallons be provided. Therefore, interim approval of this Class 'C' Public Water System is granted on the condition that by March 1st, 1992, additional storage will be added such that the total system storage capacity is at least 50 gallons. Upon completion of this upgrade, an as-built shoutd be submitted to this Department. The enclosed "Construction and Operation Certificate for Public Water Systems" constitutes this Department's approval of this water system. ~7~ pxi~/ed on recycled papo~ b y C,D. As a result, the PWSID Number assigned to this Public Water System is 217526. The current State Drinking Water Regulations do not require routine water sampling for Class C Public Water Systems such as this system. However, if the regulations do change, the Department would like to be able to contact the owner/operator of the system. Please have your clients complete the highlighted areas on the enclosed "Inventory Update Form" and return it to this office. Thank you for your cooperation with this Department. Bensen Anchorage, AK 99503 NOV 7 2 Subject: Lot t, Kodiak Subdivision Septic System Adequacy Gentlemen: The absorption system on the subject lot was originally designed to serve a three bedroom house. The system currently serves a shop/office complex with only one bathroom. The system is therefore, subjected to limited use between normal working hours. The absorption system is a shallow trench design with an effective drainage area of 450 square feet. The system is capable of accepting 450 Gallons of water per day based on testing performed on the site. This is acceptable for a three bedroom home and is consistent with the system design.
