This letter transmitts the additional soils information
obtained on the abQve referenced lot in June 1980.
An additional test hole, 4-1-C, was placed near the mid
point of the lot at its boundary with lot 3. The 1Qg of
~hat boring is included with this letter°
The measured perc rate was/10-~__~nutes/!nc~ This rate
applies to the layer from 1.0 feet to'~3.0 feet. No water
was encountered.
The disposal system should not be placed on the lower,
western side of the lot because of potentially high gr6und
water.
If you have any questions regarding this information, please
do not hesi{ate to contact our office.

Subject: Waiver request for Lot 4 Block 1 South Park Terrace
Waiver request No. WR87-005 ~
Dear Dr. Reid:
The waiver request for the above mentioned lot for separation
distance of the absorption field to the stream has been
denied. The required separation of 100 feet cannot be waived
to 82 feet at this time.
The Health Authority Approval accompanied with this waiver
request has been given a conditional approval. The condition
is, funds shall be put in escrow to drill two(2) test holes
located on the accompanying as-built. Test holes must be'dug
to a depth of at least twelve(12) feet showing no ground
water. If ground water is existing at twelve(12) feet or above'
then the septic system must be upgraded to Municipal
Specifications. The water monitoring should be done the month
of June 1987. If the results of the water monitoring are
satisfactory to us at this time, the waiver request can be be
approved.
If there are any questions regarding this matter please contact
me at D.H.H.S. on my phone~ 264-4860.

Re: Lot 4, Block 1, South Park Terrace
The above referenced lot consists of a 4 bedroom single family dwelliag served
with an individual on-site sewer system and community water. On December 22,
1986, I performed an adequacy test and a Health Authority inspection, See
attached adequacy test results. Refering to the site plan diagram, there is a
stream that runs through this lot. The separation distance from the stream to
the septic tank and trench is 87 feet and approximately 82 feet respectively.
The sewer system as-built does not show this stream. The bend in the stream
that is closest to the sewer system has a log retaining wall built up on the
south bank to keep the stream in its current path. This portion of the stream
is downslope from the sewer system. The general contour of the lot slopes from
the tank towards the stream, and from the trench, the slope is towards the west.
The septic tank is a two compartmeut steel tank. We are requestiag tl~_ the
separation distance from the %tream to the septic tank an¢~ab~grption fie.l~ be
waived to 87 feet and<82 fe~t~'espectively. If you have an~'~s{'l~]§; ~lease

The attached inspection report has two(2) different legal
descriptions listed. The permit ~810451 belongs to the
legal description of Lot 4 Block 4 Southpark Terrace Estates
and this has been inspected and finaled by this department.
The legal description of Lot 4 Block 1 Southpark Terrace
Estates has a different permit 'number (810582). This has
not been inspected or finaled as of this dat~.
Please make the necessary corrections, and which legal
description did you inspect?

Soils and Ground Water
One boring, Test Hole 4-11' was drilled on this lot in the 1980
exploration program. This boring, located on the upper portion
of the lot, encountered sandy silt to a depth of three feet
overlying gravelly sandy silt to a depth of l0 feet. The gravelly
sandy silt graded into a very silty sandy gravel at a depth of
approximately 10 feet to 16 feet, the maximum depth explored. No
ground water was encountered while drilling, however, several ~-~ [~.>
days later a water level of six feet below the ground surface was
observed.' It is suspected that this water is from near surface
downslope seepage and is not indicative of a general high water
table. However, the ground water level is probably high in the
northern portion of the lot. A small well ~n~ ~.t~a~.~ns
through this area.
Two landform units are present on the lot. The upper part of the
lot is in a glacial 'till, the eastern portion in a kame terrace
alluvial deposit and the northern half of the lot in an alluvial
stream deposit. The soils in alluvial deposits consist chiefly
of clean sands ~nd gravels and were deposited when much greater
.quantities of water flowed down the stream. Test Pit 22 located
on the adjacent lot is typical probably of conditions on the
terrace western part of the lot and Test Pit 28 and Boring 5-2
typical of the alluvial deposits now ~ccupied by a small stream.
Location of Septic System
The preferred location of the septic system is the southwest
portion of the lot on the terrace deposits. The northern portion
of the lot may have a high water table and is close to the stream
and the ,~stern part of the lot, less permeable soils. The
system should be at least 100 feet away from the stream. The
.steep slopes!may require the use of drop boxes or overflow pipes
to distribute the effluent.

Design Absorption Area
Based on the information available, it is recommended that the
system be designed for 150 square feet of absorption area per
bedroom. If clean gravel or sand (less th~n 10 percent silt) is
encountsred, the absorption area can be reduced to 125 square
feet per bedroom.
