Ref: Septic Design for Lot 3, Block 3, Southpark Subdivision
To whom it may concern:
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private septic system and a community water
system. This property has a existing septic system on it. Test holes were excavated at the north
and south ends of the trench. As can be seen on the attached soils logs (labeled TH#3 and TH#4),
the system was installed in unsuitable soils. The existing septic system is to be completely
abandoned. Comments regarding the proposed design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: Attached are logs which shows the soil profile, and the percolation test results. Test
hole #2 will be used for the primary site . The soils below the organic layers are a SW/SP with
some gravel to a depth of 6 feet in TH91 and to a depth of 13 feet in TH#2. The soil below the
SW/SP layer transitions to a primarily SW layer to a depth of 13 feet in TH#1. The depth of both
TH#1 and TH#2 bottom of the holes are 13 feet. No groundwater was encountered during the
excavation of the test holes. The percolation tests for TH#1 and TH#2 were performed between
the depth of 6.0 feet to 6.5 feet and between the depth of 5.0 feet to 6.0 feet which both had a
percolation rate of <1 minute/inch. A grab sample was pulled from TH#1 and in our opinion, the
insitu sandy soils will serve as a sand filter.
2. TRENCH DESIGN:
a. Percolation Rate: <1 minutes/inch
b. Allowable Application Rate: 1.2 gallons/day/ft2
c. Number of Bedrooms: 4
d. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day
e. Minimum Absorption Area: 500 ft2
f. Total Depth: 5 feet (max.)
g. Effective Depth: 4 feet
h. Width: 5 feet minimum
i. Reduction Factor: 0.50
i. Minimum Length: 50 feet long
j Effective absorption area = 500 ft2
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed
upgrade.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: Attached is a topography site plan which shows the general topography of
the area. Some excavation has taken place prior to digging the test holes which has created a
level plateau area where the drainfield and a portion of the proposed house is to be placed.
Further excavation is necessary in order to provide additional area for the house location. The
average topography of this property is a 10% to 15% slope running from the northeast property
line to the southwest property line. Every effort will be made to insure that no cutbanks will be
made 50 feet downhill from the proposed drainfield.

Soils and Ground Water
Very permeable soils were found by Boring 3-3. Gravelly sand
occurs to eight feet, then a two foot layer of silty gravelly
sand was encountered. This overlies at least six feet of sand
with traces of gravel. No ground water was encountered. Boring
4--3, located on Lot 4, encountered silty soils for the entire 16
feet indicating the variability of soils in this area. Percola-
tion rates were high in both Boring 3-3 and 4-3, however.
Location of Septic System
The preferred location of septic system is in the southeast
portJ, on of the lot, downhill from the house.
pesign Absorption Area
The percolation rate in Boring 3-3 and 4-3 was one-half minute
per inch. Based on these two percolation tests, it is recommended
that an absorption area of 100 square feet per bedroom be provided.
If silty soils are encountered when excavating for the drain
· system, the absorption areas should be increased.

Per your request, an attempt to locate the two southeast missing standpipes was made with the
existing swingties and extensive digging in the heavily filled landscaping. Only the monitoring
tube was found with a total depth of 8.9'. In order not to impact the landscaping further and
given the 22 year age of the system and 50' length, which can be serviced by the other cleanouts
— we respectfully request that no further excavation be required to locate the missing southeast
cleanout. This will not impact the use or maintenance of the system. Please contact us if you
have any questions.

In conducting an adequacy test, I attempt to provide a thorough, conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with MoA COSA
guidelines and regulations. The reported results describe the performance of the system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test,
and separation distances measured to readily identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and septic systems depend on the local soil
condition, ground water levels that may fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system. These conditions
are outside the control of the evaluator of this system. All systems eventually fail and satisfactory test results do not guarantee future
performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that there are no hidden defects or encroachments. Therefore we cannot provide any warranty
for future performance, nor can we estimate remaining life of the system. The content of this report is for the sole benefit of the owner listed
above.
