The proposed systems will serve an existing three-bedroom house. The lot is developed at this time. The lot is 59,850 square feet (1.374 acres) in size. There is an existing septic system serving this lot. 1. Soils. See the attached soils log. Ground water was monitored through the seasonal high period of 2004. There was monitored at a depth of 16 feet on October 22nd. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. Surface Water: There is a subdrain outlet approximately 58 to 75 feet from the end of the proposed septic system. A diversion dike will be constructed to direct any potential overflow a minimum of 100 feet from the surface water. There is a creek approximately 85 feet uphill from the existing septic tank. There is no chance of overflowing sewage to enter this surface water due to the existing grade of the lot. The creek is approximately four to eight feet above the ground above the septic tank. I request a waiver to this surface water be granted. 4. Topography: The average topography in the area of the proposed septic system is flat. The lot has an average topography of 1 to 2 percent. The lot has an overall topography of five to ten percent. The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots. During the test, the liquid level in the septic tank was monitored while 200 gallons of water were added to the system through the septic tank standpipe. The following table represents the level of liquid in the tank. If it is assumed that the existing three bedroom residence will house six people, the average load on the disposal system can be expected to be 450 gallons per day or .31 gallons per minute. The system in question accepted 200 gallons, or nearly one-half of the average daily load, in 55 minutes. During that time, there was no significant rise in liquid level in the tank. This indicates an acceptance rate of 3.6 gallons per minute at the time of the test. Since the house on the property was occupied, it can be assumed that the leach field was at its normal degree of saturation. We conclude that the system is disposing of effluent at an adequate rate for a three- bedroom residence.
