A septic tank may be set in place, but may not be backfilled before this inspection. 2. The second inspection must be conducted after the placement of the silt barrier, gravel, distribution lines, standpipes, cleanouts, and insulation, but before the placement of any other backfill. 3. The final inspection is to occur upon final grading of the property. Often there will be more than these 3 inspections required. Especially with the installation of multiple trenches, sand filters, pressurized distribution systems, etc. Thus, the inspecting engineer is to be contacted at least 24 hours prior to the start of construction. If necessary, a pre -construction meeting will take place on-site. The inspecting engineer will not coordinate, direct or control in any way the contractors activities. The testing was accomplished on October 20th, and 21st, 1983. The purpose of this investigation was to assess the soil for suitability of on-site wastewater disposal systems. Included in this transmittal are: 1. Test Hole Location Sketch. 2. Test Hole Log. The subsurface investigation was conducted using a minuteman drill fitted with a continuous flite solid stem auger. The drill is owned by Bomhoff and Associates, Inc. Drilling was supervised, the test hole logged, and the percolation test performed by Rick R. Koch, Civil Engineer with Coffman Engineers, Inc. After drilling was completed the test hole was backfilled to the bottom of the strata to be tested and was filled with water and continously refilled for a period of two hours before testing. Prior to the test, the water level was lowered to the top of the strata to be tested, and the drop in water level was carefully monitored over the next 60 minutes, Using the above test, the observed minimum percolation rate was 6.7 minutes per inch. We recommend that the seepage trenches be inspected prior to installing the system as the above percolation rates are based on the result of a three and one-half inch test Mr. Bill Shuler November 4, 1983 Page 2 hole. The seepage trench will provide a much clearer picture of the subsurface conditions than the test holes. If conditions are different from those encountered in the test hole, it may be necessary to lengthen or enlarge the trenches. I hope this report meets your present needs. If I can be of further assistance to you, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Jan M. Nick, P.E. Over a 6 hour period, 530 gallons of clean water was added to the drain field. This caused a rise from an initial water level of 15 inches to 31 inches. Over a 3 hour period the water level dropped 15 inches. During this 3 hour period the drain field disposed of approximately 290 gallons, by extrapolation, over the next 21 hours the drain field could dispose an additional 6090 gallons. Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 Ref: Well and septic system adequacy test at Lot 6, Block 3, Stolle S/D. To whom it may concern: The subject test/inspections were performed an 10/30/94. The results are summarized as follows: WELL ADEQUACY TEST: The static water level in the well. was 175 fleet below the top of the casing. The test was performed by pumping water at an average rate of 2.34 gpm over a period of 192 minutes (450 gallons). The actual pumping rate varied between 2.36 gpm and 5.18 gpm, but was intermittently stopped to allow the well to recovery_ the pumping is summarized as follows: Time mint!tes O 17 43 56 70 93 Flom Lallons 0 88 216 272 311 351 Water Level 175 217 269 290 300.5 303 Erratic Stopped flow for 12 minutes to allow well to recover 105 351 299 (also filled pressure tank) 122 391 303 Erratic 135 409 303 Erratic Stopped flow for 45 minutes to allow well to recover 180 409 not read 1.92 450 300 approx. The recovery of the wall was then monitored over the next 60 minutes. The results are summarized as follows: Telephone: (907) 337-6179 . Fax: (907) 338-3246 . 8471 Brookridge Drive . Anchorage, Alaska 99504 Time minutes) Water t_evel Meet Vol. in casing (gal.) 0 300 approx. 0 6 296 5.88 1s 289 16.2 20 285 22.1 30 277 33.8 40 270 44.1 s0 263 54.4 60 256 64.7 The volume recovered in the well casing during one hour was 64.7 gallons. This corresponds to recovery rate of 1.08 gpm, when the well is near maximum drawdown. The ability of the well to sustain this recovery rate over an extended period of time is uncertain; however, based upon this data, it appears that the well is adequate for a 3 bedroom house (.313 gpm) at this time. NOTE: The results of the test are only valid for this given day, as the adequacy may fluctuate due to seasonal conditions, seismic activity, annual precipitation, ect. SEPTIC SYSTEM EVALUATION= According to the as -built records the existing trench has 48 inches of drainrock below the sewer pipe_ Prior.to beginning the test it was noted that the sump at the end of the trench was completely dry.. Water was introduced into the trench at the same pumping rate/cycle for the well. test. During the entire test, the liquid level in the sump did not rise, indicating that the water was being absorbed as fast as it was being introduced. TRENCH LOCATED NEXT TO CUTSANK: The existing trench is located at the edge of a 40% cutbank. On the day of my site visit there was snow on the ground; consequently, I was not able to visually see if "daylighting" was occurring. According to the property owner there have not been any operational problems with the septic system.
