It is requested that you issue a permit to replace the existing septic tank currently
serving the existing three bedroom dwelling on the referenced property with a new
1000 gallon IIDPE septic tank. The existing septic tank encroaches on the onsite well
and must be relocated. Due to the age of the existing tank and its material, a new
tank will be installed.
We do not anticipate any adverse effects on neighboring wells, septic systems, reserve
areas or drainage patterns by the installation of the proposed septic tank. The construction
of this system will not prevent any future development on any of the adjacent properties.

Dear Sir:
This office is the recipient of a soil test conducted by
the Alaska Testlab of the subject property. The percolation
test performed, showed the absorption rate to be 100.0
minutes per inch, which indicates that the soil at the
above location is unsuitable for subsurface disposal
systems.
The only alternative availalbe at this point that would
satisfy this department's requirement is to install a
2,000 gallon holding tank. Along with the installation
of the holding tank we will require a contract from a local
cesspool pumping firm, stating that they will be responsible
for servicing (pumping) the holding tank as frequently as
necessary to prevent the discharge of sewage onto the
surface of the ground.
The distance requirement between holding tanks and wells
are one -hundred (100) feet.
The existing cesspool must be pumped and backfilled upon
the completion of the installation. This department will
grant a temporary approval if funds are set aside to upgrade
the sewer system as outlined above. A completion date of
May, 1977 is requested.

Dear Robbie:
On September 24, 1983, I examined the well on Mike Collins lot located
on TION, R3W, USS 3202 Lot 7. The well had been found to be inadequate
due to the fact that the casing did not extend one foot above ground
level. The well is on a slab inside an insulated weather tight wooden
box with a concrete base. The top of the slab is about 1.5 feet below
ground. To solve the problem, Mr. Collins cut a hole through the cement
slab the well is built on, and placed a 4" plastic pipe in this hole
which then extends out to a low spot where it drains. The bottom of the
plastic pipe immediately below the well is over a foot below the bottom
of the well casing. Consequently, it is as if the well casing now
extends a foot above ground level, and any surface water coming towards
the well will drain off instead of potentially contaminating the well.
The drain system thus installed appears to be quite adequate.
