2. All requirements specified in Anchorage Municipal code Chapters 15.55 and 15.65 and the State of Alaska
Wastewater Disposal Regulations (18AAC72) and Drinking Water Regulations (18AAC80)
3. The wastewater code requires inspections during the installation. The engineer shall notify the Development
Services Department per AMC 15.65. Provide notification by calling (907) 343-7904 (24/7).
4. From October 15 to April 15, a subsurface soil absorption system under construction during freezing weather
shall be either:
a. Opened and Closed on the same day, or
b. Covered, sealed, and heated to prevent freezing

We originally submitted an application for a tank replacement, but found the existing trench to be
surcharged. We are now proposing the replacement of the whole septic system. The attached site
plan identifies the location of the home as well as the well and septic location. No conflicts exist
between this proposed system and any other wells or septic system, whether on this lot or adjacent
lots.
The ground surface on the lot slopes toward the north under 10%. There are no slopes greater than
25% within 50 feet downslope of the proposed site. Contours are shown on the site plan showing
the grade and direction of flow. Stormwater drainage will not impact this septic system. The new
trench will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible. A new test hole will be done
prior to construction to confirm absorption and that the minimum separation to groundwater and
impermeable surfaces are met for the proposed design depth.
The new septic system will be a minimum of 100' from all wells and surface water, more than 16'
away from the existing trench, and more than 5' away fiom the septic tank. Please refer to the
attached plan for the septic design. If this design is followed, there will be no adverse impacts to
adjacent properties.

Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The owners of Lot 9, Sheets Subdivision intend to build a three bedroom home on the
lot. We are therefore applying for a permit to construct a well and septic system to
serve the house. The Site Plan shows the location of the new system along with the
alternate system, well location and the location of wells in the area. The lot is currently
served by a community water system which is not in compliance with ADEC regulations
making the lot ineligible for construction financing. The plat for the subdivision has
been researched and contains no requirement prohibiting private wells.
We are hereby requesting a permit to construct a well and septic system on the lot.
Testholes placed revealed silty gravel with a percoation rate ranging from 23 to 32
minutes per inch. No groundwater was encountered nor was any noted during the
monitoring period. We have therefore designed a deep absorption trench system with
an 8' effective depth and 63' in length. The distribution pipe will be placed at 3.5' below
the surface and the total depth of the system will be 11.5'
The ground surface on the lot slopes from the south to the north. At the back of the lot
the slope is approximately 15% in the area of the new absorption trench. The slope
flattens out to 5% near the front of the lot. The trench will be constructed parallel to the
slope in accordance with Municipal requirements. Since the subdivision is served
primarily by the community water system no conflicts will exist between the septic
system and other wells in the area. Similarly, the well to be constructed on the lot will
not conflict with private septic systems on adjacent lots.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:
The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells
in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
