Bragaw Street P. O. Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: Lot 6 Calkin S/D Emergency Septic Tank Replacement Permit Request Ladies and Gentlemen: I am writing to request that a permit to install a new septic tank be issued for this property. The system currently serves an existing three-bedroom house. The lot is currently developed and is served by a private water system. The top of the existing septic tank has corroded through and is a danger and health threat. 1. Tank Replacement. The original 1000 -gallon septic tank was installed in 1975. The tank collapsed recently and is being pumpeddaily to keep the house operating This situation poses a serious health risk and a potential dangerous situation. See the attached site plan. The existing drain field was inspected and found tobe approximately 50% saturated and appears to be operating adequately. 2. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed system. 3. Topography: The average topography in the area of the proposed septic system is approximately two to three percent to the southwest. There are no changes in.slope greater than 25% within 50 feet of this lot. The proposed installation will not affect the future development ofthe surrounding or existing lots. There are no wells or septic systems within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank location. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 2273522 or 272-8218. Steven R. Pannone, P.E.
