SUBJECT: Lot 24 Block 5 Old Girdwood Townsite
A permit issued by this Department for an individual well
and/or on-site sewer system has expired as of December 31,
1984.
Permits are issued on a calendar year basis by authority
of Municipal Ordinance. A new permit must be obtained from
this Department for any well and/or on-site sewer system not
installed by the expiration date.
If you have drilled the well, a well log needs to be sent
to this Department for documentation of the installation
and to close the permit.
If a private engineer inspected the installation of the
on-site sewer system, the original as-built inspection report
and the yellow copy must be sent to this office for review
and approval, and for documentation.
If there are any further questions, please call this office
at 264-4720.

Dear Mr. Robinson:
At our September 9 meeting, the Board unanimously voted to waive the 18
month limit for holding tanks in the Old Girdwood Townsite -- defined as the
area bounded by the Alaska Railroad, the Alyeska Highway, and the Seward High-
way. This waiver is based on the provision that the two original conditions
are still rigidly enforced: (1) there must be a valid and verifiable pumping
contract in effect at all times during the interim period and, (2) an affida-
vit is signed by the property owner and recorded requiring immediate hookup to
public sewer.
The residents of the area have voted for trunk line extension; however,
we realize it is likely to take much longer than 18 months before the project
is completed. In the meantime, we do not want to stall new construction in
that area indefinitely.
