HomeMy WebLinkAboutGREEN #1 General Information%0 I~EMORANDUM TO: FROM: SUBJECT: DATE: File Darl W: Kvasager Green Subdivision, Job No'. 75-081 November 17, 1975 On November 14, 1975 at 5:00 p..m., I met with a representative of Anchorage Cesspool Pumping Company at the referenced subdivision, the purpose of which was to add a metered water amount of 1,O00 gallons into Mr. Green's cesspool, and over a 24 hour period measure the drop of water within the cesspool. At 5:00 p.m. on November 14, I measured the distance from the stand-pipe to the top of the water as 6.1 feet. Anchorage Cesspool Pumping then added 1,000 gallons of water to the cesspool. At 5:15 I measured the distance from the stand-pipe to. the top of the water to be 4.3 feet, an increase of 1.8 feet. On Saturday, November 15, I again measured the distance from the stand-pipe to the top of the water and it measured 6.3 feet. From the above it can be seen that the cesspool system is capable of accepting more than 1,000 gallons during any 24 hour period. It should be noted also, that on Friday evening the cesspool had been in operation for the full five days receiving sewage from the Montessory School. The weekend allows this system to purge itself of accumulated fluids and be ready on the following Honday to receive sewage from the MOntessory School in the Bultoco Building. Conversion: 7.49 gal = I ft.3 Q= -~l R2 H 1,000/7.49 = 1-F (R2)(2.0) R2 : 21.25 ft.2 R = 4.6 ft. Since the exact amount of water may have been somewhat different from 1,000 gallons, it is very apparent that the cesspool is eight feet in diameter, and adequate to handle normal flows. Design Sewage Flow For School: Q = 15 gal./student/day ll5 students Q = 15 (115) = 1725/day Between 80% and 90% of all the water used by the school would be dumped into its cesspool. Therefore, 2,029 gallons (1,725 e .85) must be supplied to the school; the shool has never wanted for water. The Bultaco Building is connected to the schools' cesspool and water system. The only water demand placed on the school's water system by Bultaco is one (1) water closet. Water Needed For Bultaco: 15 gal./water closet/day 1 water closet I (15) : 15 gat/day % Of Well Demand: 15/2,029 (100%) : 0.74% Note: Bultaco uses less than one percent (1%) of school's water demand. CERTIFICATION OF CES'~_v~I~ ~ AND WELL. . .. · Mr.' Greeh, Job No: 75-081 Page -2- % Of Cesspool Capacity: 1~/t,~25 (100%) = 0.87% Note: Bultaco adds less than one percent (1%) to school's cesspool load. From the above analysis, it is exceedingly obvious that the sewer and water systems for the school are capable of handling the Bultaco Building. Also, the sewer system has been in operation for 14 years with no downtime except for one (1) pumping of solids from the cesspool. The distance from the well to the cesspool is 123.7 feet. Also, one of the reasons for the horizontal separation between the cesspool and the well is to provide protection from sewage flowing overland and into the well-head. The vertical separation between the cesspool and well-head is approximately 15 feet, the well-head being higher. This does not preclude the possibility of a geologic impervious layer below ground. However, road cuts in the area do not indicate this. --i ' I I, HAROLD GREEN, hereby certify that the location of Septic Tanks, Cess Pools, and Wells as platted on the GREEN SUBDIVISION Plat are accurate. Also, the dates of construction of these systems are cor- rect to the best of my knowledge. ~arold Green DE~,.~/RTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QL~.~?ITY PLATTING OR PLANNING ~ ZOHING CASE REVIEW CASE NO.
