Ken Lang Water Resources Engineers 12301 Ginami Street Anchorage, Alaska 99516 Subject= Campbell Terrace Subdivision Sewer Improvements Waiver Request WR86-149 Gentlemen= Your request for a waiver of the separation distance required between the proposed sewer main extension (Campbell Terrace Subdivision Improvements) and the well on Lot 3 Block 2 Campbell Terrace Subdivision has been granted. This waiver is subject to the following conditions: The sewer main must be constructed of ductile iron and all Joints lying within 75 feet of the affected well must be equipped with gaskets (U.S. Pipe "Field-Lok,, or equivalent) and heat-shrink sleeves (Raychem or equivalent). e The well on the aforementioned lot must be upgraded to municipal standards. The casing must be extended one foot above grade and equipped with a sanitary seal. A stub-out to the proposed sewer extension must be provided for Lot 3. This stub-out should be located so as to facilitate the tie-in of a service line running from the rear (south end) of this lot. e The clean-out at Station 2+00.00 does not meet the setback required to the Class C well serving the 4-plex on Lot 2. A waiver must be obtained from the State Department of Environmental Conservation. The separation distance required between the private well on Lot 3 and the sewer line will be considered waived after an as-built is received and approved by this department. As noted on the drawing the proposed sewer line is within ~he protective well radius for Lot 3, Block 2. ~$e hereby request a waiver of the minimum separation ~stance between ~he well and sanitary sewer for the following~asons: 1. The existing septic system on Lot 2, Block 1 Combs Sub. has or is failing and the only practical means ~r connection to sanitary sewer is as designed on the enclosed d tawing. 2. The sewer is designed with adequate safeguards to permit a reduction in the minimum separation. Enclosed is a signed waiver from the affected property,owner. The well is very old and no well log is known to exist. When ~%ilkoot Court was reconstructed in 1983 a water service was run in to the lot but the residence has not been connected. Regarding the extension of sanitary sewer past my property to serve in Combs Subdivision, I do not object to the pDposed extension or to the encroachment into the protective radius of my well as long as the line is adequately protected from leakage.
