Prior to the inspection the engineer testing the sewer system informed me that the system serving the rental unit had apparently failed and was discharging sewage upon the ground. This letter will serve as:~a warning. If the sewage continues to overflow this deaprtment Will bring legal action against the owner and will require an upgrade. As long as both systems are pumped and do not create a health hazard legal action will not be necessary. From the engineers report we have received, a sewer system could possibly be installed ~ financially it would be extremly expensive. An alternative would We tO install a holding tank which would require pumping an a regular ~asis, usually once every two weeks. Manley % Marigale Compton Cook Inlet Realty 619 East 5th Avenue Anchorage, Alaska 99501 Subject: Lot 8 De Armoun (Homestead) Subdivision Approval for the individual sewer and water facilities cannot be granted until the following items have been completed: (1) The depression around the well casing needs to be filled with impervious ty~e soil so that it slopes away from the well casing. (2) The well casing extended twelve(12) inches above ground level. (3) The septic tank exposed for our inspection. Also, the septic tank needs to be. pumped with the number of gallons on the receipt. 'This will need to be verified by a registered engineer as to the actual number of gallons pumped. This is to verify the size of the septic tank. If it is a 1,250 gallon tank or more, the septic tank is large enough for a four(4) bedroom dwelling. (4) According to the engineer, the leaching area to the rental unit has failed and the leaching area serving the house could not be located. A standpipe to the leaching area serving the house will need to be located. If the leaching area is 120 feet away from the well and passes an adequacy test for a four(4) bedroom home, this department may approve the sewer system. :Vincent G. Prior to the installation a soils test will need to be obtained so that a permit may be issued for the upgrade by this department.
