Nancy Byrd 1011 Nollywood Drive, Apt. 645 '~J~N ~ ~' ~gTg Anchorage, Alaska 99501 RECEIVED Subject: Soils investigation for sanitary sewer system on Lot 14, Freeman Subdivision, Anchorage, Alaska. Dear Ms. Byrd: At your request of January 18, 1979, I conducted a soils investigation at the proposed location of a sanitary sewer system on the subject lot. This investigation, which was accomplished on January 20, 1979, consisted of the inspec- tion of soils removed during the digging 15.5 feet deep test pit, using a wheel mounted backhoe. After completion of digging, a 3 foot deep bench was dug adjacent to the test pit and a 8 inch diameter, 16 inch deep hole was hand dug into the bottom of the bench. It was then filled with water and a percolation test performed. The results of this test are tabulated on an accompanying sheet. The soils encountered are graphically shown on the accompanying test hole log. The soil~ consisted of a 1.0 foot thick layer of O~ganics and decayed organic material overlying a Silt with a trace to some gravel, trace sand, scattered cobbles and an occasional boulder, to a total depth of 15.5 feet. The topography of the lot consists of a lo? hill extending in a westerly direction approx- imately 60 feet from the 'east lot line', then th~ lot drops off sharply at about a 40 per cent grade for an elevation drop of approximately 25 to 30 feet, from the base of the slope to the west lot line the lot is nearly flat. / Vegetation on the subject lot consists of dense birch to 40 feet tall, with an occasional spruce t6 25 feet tall, some alders and willows to 5 feet tall, and a low ground cover of mosses and grasses. No water table was encountered in the test pit. An accompanying sketch shows the subject lot with the approximate location of the test hole in relation to the property lines. I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this soils investigation.
